I used this about four times and every time the lid fell off when opened to check the food. The last time it fell off while I was taking the basket out and while putting the basket back in the hot oil it splashed oil all over the cabinet top.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This little fryer exceeded my expectations. We are a gluten free family and have been craving donuts and other fried foods for a long time. I found this compact fryer and thought it would be nice to try making our own yummy snacks. It’s compact for storing and leaving on the counter, but big enough to fit a couple of donuts at a time. It was easy to use and cooked the food perfectly every time. Highly recommend!

Since I’m only cooking for one this is the perfect solution when I want to deep fry.
Ease of use make this a no-brainer. I use a 4 cup measuring cup to fill and drain with a strainer. It really performs well! The basket was the selling point for me. You can fry without it but the basket is great for fries and other smaller items!

I love that the CDF-100 keeps the desired temperature. When I fry fish, I want the oil to stay at the high temperature during cooking. The CDF-100 accomplishes this for me.

Growing up we had a deep fryer. You could almost cook a whole bag of french fries in there. I am obviously not familiar with quarts because I didn't realize how small this was going to be. It does the job it's supposed to do and it does it well, but the portions are tiny. This is not meant for cooking up food for a party. It's easy to clean mainly because it is so small it doesn't take much to clean it. If you plan on using this occasionally for one person, than it should be fine. For large gatherings, than no.
