"Ready" light came on after 14 minutes at the 375°F setting and temperature was only 280°F measured using a laboratory thermometer made by ERTCO. Temperature did reach 300°F and NEVER reached the touted 375°F. I attempted to fry several small pieces of fish and it took 12 minutes to fry them. During the frying process, the "Ready" light came on briefly and that is when a maximum temperature of 300°F was reached.
I tried frying several more small pieces of fish at the 375°F setting and the green indicator "Ready" light came on at a measured temperature of 275°F.
I tried frying several small pieces of Speckled Trout and cooking time took 15 minutes. Recovery time is exceptionally slow.
I tried frying ORE-IDA pre-cooked shoestring French fries which took 15 minutes for a small batch cooking at a measured temperature of 250°F.
If you want to take two hours to fry a three or so batches, then, this Cusinart is for you.
To fry a LARGE batch of fries in my 35 year old, 1,200 watt fryer at a measured temperature of 375°F, cooking time is 7 minutes !!
The connection cord is 12" too short for reaching kitchen outlets and the magnetic cord attachment is hazardous and inconvenient.
Cusinart specifications: Maximum temperature in 6 - 8 minutes ("Ready" light will come on). Maximum operating temperature per what is written on the box = 375°F.

I really wanted to like this deep fryer because it's compact in size, however it is pretty small. There is a fill line to where you fill it up with oil, but on multiple occasions, even when I under filled it; the oil would over flow and spill out of the fryer and at one point burnt my hand when using it. It comes with a cover where you can close the fryer and there's a little window where you should be able to see what you're frying, however when frying-you can't see through the window because the oil gets very bubbly that you can't see anything. This product I'm assuming has been discontinued for a reason.
