Easy set up with a few quirky features.

I start this by saying that this unit replaces a discontinued cable TV service that was the model of thoroughness and simplicity. I miss it dearly. I chose Roku because I have an existing Roku on a different television that I am accustomed to and enjoy. It is a 4200X with a lot of time and miles on it. Roku is easy to set up, which I appreciate. Unlike my older 4200, this one seems to glitch out occasionally, not showing the proper screen(s), or not responding to commands. The remote buttons are quite stiff and even a bit annoying. It is a bit hard to separate the Roku characteristics from the Direct TV Stream service that I access through it. Direct TV Stream is quite quirky and often annoying. I may switch to a different service, which is one of the great features about this Roku in that it is ready and able to access to many different service choices.

Hey Nana, thank you for sharing your experience. Did you know that all Roku users can easily access over 100+ free local channels, including KHOU Houston, FOX25 Boston, and WSB Atlanta? Roku also offers eight local NBC news stations in major cities, such as NBC News New York and Los Angeles. You can find them on the Live TV tile on your Roku home screen. Additionally, channels like NewsON and Haystack News make it easier to watch live and local broadcasts. Simply add them to your home screen and input your Zip Code for relevant news, weather, and traffic updates from your favorite local stations. For more options to access your local channels, you can refer to this link at https://support.roku.com/article/115005469427. I like Roku because of the variety it offers. It's better than a satellite where they charge for channels I don't use/

Does its job but interface changes slow down acces
on July 4, 2024

I purchased this one because my old Roku stick was overheating. It has worked without overheating. However the interface has more ads. It also has a couple of extra tiles on top for using other inputs. So I have to push down and right more in order to get to the list of my "channels" or whatever Roku calls my streaming services.

The transition from traditional cable to Roku was challenging and we could have used more instructions. But it saves us a lot of money.

Hello there! Thank you for choosing our Roku products. You’ve made a good decision by "Cutting the Cord" and replacing your cable service with a few video streaming subscriptions. Did you know that you can easily access your favorite channels by filtering your channel guide? To do this, open the Channel Options Menu, then go to Filter and choose from All channels, Recents, or Favorites. Find more options to manage your channels at this link: https://support.roku.com/article/4420557730839. If you already have a subscription with another streaming platform, you can access their application by adding their App on your Roku TV/device. Just follow these steps: Press Home>Search>Type the Channel Name>Select Channel> Add Channel. We hope this will help you, and your feedback is very important to us.
