Good replacement for old Whirlpool side by side

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a nicely updated version of the refrigerator we replaced it with, a 22 yr. old Whirlpool Gold side by side with water and ice through the door. The exterior measurements of the new unit are almost identical to the old refrigerator, but it seems a bit more spacious inside. The shelves in both compartments could use a few more options in terms of placement, and perhaps even the option of an extra shelf for each compartment. The storage bins for vegetables, fruits, etc. aren't quite as nice as the old unit. Though there are three such bins, the top one is rather shallow and the bottom one, though deep, doesn't go far back.
The exterior display panel, showing temperatures in each compartment and other functions, is a helpful improvement over the old unit. The refrigerator is also notably quieter than its predecessor except when the ice maker is filling with water or ejecting ice.
The only real gripe is the ice maker for a number of reasons. It makes what is termed cubed ice, which is more of a flattened, 4 sided pyramid, only about 1 1/2" to a side, approximately. The cubes are a bit too small for my taste. The feeding tube to the in door dispenser is narrow and seems to be subject to clogs. Even in the in door storage, the ice is fuzzy with ice crystals, almost as though some were crushed. As dispensed, the ice also shows this pre-crushed look, even without selecting crushed ice. The capacity of the in door ice storage is also smaller than the old unit.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was bought to replace a Whirlpool Gold refrigerator that we had and loved for over a decade. This new Whirlpool cools down quickly and freezes food well. There seems to be more condensation that builds up when you open either the freezer or refrigerator. The fan is loud and the Everydrop water filter is already showing signs of reduced flow after two weeks of use. It's the "A" size filter and it is expensive for it's size. Our old model used a size 3 filter and lasted 6 months without any problems at all. The fan noise and water filter are the reason for the four star rating. I'm hoping to get the same service life from this one as I did from my last one.
