Really Loud. Outdated. Annoying.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] An awful refrigerator. We had the same exact refrigerator previously. Lasted only 7 years, but at least it was quiet and did its job. This new version had the loudest and most annoying compressor that sounded like a house alarm going off. Whirlpool repairman (Diamond Service) noticed it immediately upon walking in our front door. He ordered a control panel, but when he came back to install the control panel a couple weeks later he said he was "told" to tell us that the sound was "normal operating noise." I am an owner of an HVAC company and know what normal is. This was over 50db and could be heard throughout the 3,500s.f. house. We were told there was nothing we could do, so we simply sent the unit back to the store and purchased another refrigerator which is quiet and hums along as expected. The only reason we purchased the Whirlpool was because it was one of the few that could fit our 69" high opening in counter depth. We had to purchase another (lower end) Whirlpool in standard depth/black, so I wasn't happy about the brand, but at least it works and I'm not fighting with some arbitrary manufacture opinion of what is "normal."

Crap product and NO warranty help.

This refrigerator is a piece of junk.
The interior temperature is uneven throughout and things freeze on the top & second shelf.
It's set at 38 degrees which is warmer than I like and the top shelf temp is 33 and the bottom is 40.
yes, I have 3 thermometers inside !
Getting prompt warranty service is another joke,'the website is no help duen to a program glitch preventing the selection of a date for repair.
calling isn't much better, i was on hold for 40 minutes, have called 3 times and still have no service date.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A little disappointed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After 2 days I noticed excessive frost build-up in freezer. Cleaned the frost out but it continued build-up. Called warranty department and they setup service for me. Service technician determined the freezer door was warped and not sealing properly. A new door was ordered but will take upwards to six weeks to arrive. This refrigerator is a little more noisy than expected but I can live with it. I removed the bins in refrigerator section and found things I don't understand. Behind top bin is a flimsy plastic shield with jagged edges. Not sure what is behind it. Would be nice if the manual had pictures explaining the interior parts of the refrigerator.

Works, But Noisy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As expected, refrigerator cools and freezer freezes. However, this unit makes a high-pitched whine (compressor? fan?) when it cycles on, a sound that can be heard throughout the entire house. This is especially annoying at night when the house is quiet. Also discovered a few days after delivery that there was no FreshFlow filter installed. Don't know if this was due to installer or factory neglect. Disappointed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Quickly bought our new refrigerator in a pinch after 35 year old one failed. Size restraints limited our choices as well. Whirlpool has a reputable name & we have had success with other appliances by this manufacturer over the years. The knock in stars is related to the lack of climate controlled fruit & vegetable drawers. Do not recommend overlooking the lack of this feature! Produce MUST be used MUCH more quickly as a result. Love the appearance, counter-depth size & smaller ice cube size with this model! Integrated ice maker allows for more freezer storage, too. Lack of a covered butter shelf also disappointing. Extra spaces on door indicate one could be provided. Also disappointed by lack of information about "parts". Would love to order another shelf for freezer & refrigerator door. No idea how to do that. Finally, very pleased with water dispensing features and ice options. Overall happy with our purchase & would recommend! Good value for reasonable cost.

Overall, I’d say it performs well, but even though my refrigerator is brand new, it has a few issues. For instance, the plastic seal on the door sticks out, and some components feel cheaply made—like the logo on the door, which is so flimsy that it peeled off and became misaligned just from wiping it. It’s frustrating, especially considering the high price, as you’d expect much better quality.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
