Faulty water level indicator - unit shuts off

Low/no water indicator will not clear despite having water -- so the unit will not operate. Purchased and started using the unit for home use in late October 2024. Loved using the unit until it stopped working properly because of the low/no water indicator. Over the past couple of weeks, despite following all recommended directions, the indicator does not clear/reset. All maintenance and operation done per Blueair instructions. Factory reset multiple times and still does not clear. Fan starts and then stops. Unit is useless as I cannot bypass the problem to run the fan. I highly recommended the Blueair Humidifier before, however, cannot do so anymore. Frustrated and very disappointed.

We're sorry to hear about the issue with your humidifiers! The low water indicator light staying on can happen when the unit is filled without turning it off. To help get the humidifier drawing in water again after it's been filled, power the humidifier off and then back on. This will reset the pump and allow it to detect the newly added water. We can see that you have reached out to our service team already and we are committed to ensuring you have a positive experience with all of our products.

I bought this highly lauded humidifier and had to wait two weeks. I was SO excited when it arrived, and I set it up exactly per Blueair instructions. Tank full - but red low water light is on and will NOT allow machine to start. I even tried Factory reset multiple times and still does not clear. Unit is useless as I cannot bypass the problem to run the unit. I spent two plus hours trying to get it to start up. Frustrated and very disappointed.

My wife and I have gone through our fair share of humidifiers in the past, and now we finally have one that we are happy with! We love the app connectivity and feature suite, it far surpasses any other humidifier we have used and will be a key factor in making our home comfortable for years to come!

Poor quality and multiple replacements

I purchased the unit about a month ago and had it for a few weeks and it started leaking on my floor because of a hairline crack in the base. I was sent a replacement and within a week of receiving it, the fan, or some other moving part, became loud and also needed to be sent back for a replacement. So far I’ve been underwhelmed with the quality of the craftsmanship of the unit. When it works, It’s great, but so far due to the problems I’ve experienced, I’ve not been happy with the product and wouldn’t recommend it.

One of the more poorly designed Blueair products. I have several air purifiers and always like it so I decided to make a purchase here for the humidifier. First, it’s a nicely designed aesthetically but the top section of the humidifier doesn’t fit well with the portion that holds the water. You have to spend 15 minutes to align it. Second, while the description doesn’t require distilled water, I noticed that unused water sitting in the machine turns yellow. This is quite concerning, I’d imagine to be high mineral content but it looks terrible. Now you wonder what you are breathing in.

Thank you for your feedback and for sharing your experience with our humidifier. To help with a seamless assembly, make sure that the tabs on the wick filter are facing the water pump when installed and the indicators on the front of the unit are aligned. This should allow for an easy assembly of the top and bottom sections. The yellowing of water in the tank is influenced by environmental factors and water quality, often caused by minerals settling over time. While it may look concerning, it is harmless. To prevent this, we recommend regularly changing the water and using distilled or filtered water. If there is anything else we can help with, please reach out to us directly and we would be happy to support you!

Humidifier - Low Water Indicator Error SOLUTION
on January 2, 2025
Posted by: Customer1
Low Water Indicator Error Message SOLUTION!!
Marking this as 4 stars because of this Low Water Indicator Error message issue and Blueair's FAQ shown on this website and the instruction manual for this issue don't have viable solutions (as of this review). Customers have had this low water indicator error issue without a solution UNTIL NOW...PLEASE READ ON...
In reviews, some customers have indicated that their humidifier has the low water indicator error when their tank is full and the upper unit and lower unit are correctly aligned and in place. Blueair's FAQ on their website for this specific issue (at the time of this review anyway) says to turn the fan on to draw water into the pump to resolve this issue. However, unfortunately, Blueair's solution will not work as the fan will not run/turn on with that low water indicator error in place. I had this same error message occur incorrectly as well, and I tried so many different things until I figured out a solution that works.
SOLUTION: I turned off the unit, unplugged it, removed the top of the unit, and set aside the top of the unit. I wanted to just have the lower part of the unit accessible = the water pump and the water tank/bucket. I figured that the water level sensor is inside the water pump, and maybe the issue is that not enough water is inside the actual water pump enclosure. So, I decided to try filling the actual water pump enclosure with water. I left the water pump sitting in it's proper place in the water tank/bucket. I used a very small funnel, and I carefully and slowly poured maybe 1/4 cup or so of water into the very top of the water pump through the raised round opening. This filled the inside of the water pump with water. I then put the top of the unit back on top of the lower unit, I ensured it had the proper alignment with the dots, plugged it back in, and turned it back on. When the humidifier's power came on, the low water error indicator was actually gone, and the humidifier immediately started running accordingly!!!! THIS SOLUTION WORKED!!!!! YAHOOOO!!!
I was worried I was going to have to return this brand new humidifier. I really wanted to get this to work as I was excited to have a humidifier that was mist free. I'm so glad I didn't give up and discovered a solution that works. I hope this solution is helpful to those of you that have this same low water indicator error message (when your tank has plenty of water in it and your upper unit is properly aligned with the lower unit). Thank you and have a great day! (To inform others of this solution, I also posted this on the e-commerce website that Blueair also utilizes for selling this product.)
Other comments...
As a side note, I like the following aspects... the size and the look of the unit, how quiet it is, that you can dim the lights at night, I prefer refilling it directly into the lower water bucket tank - so I like the easy-transport handle and the overhang at the top edge of the bucket tank to prevent splashes, the app seems to work great too with the additional features, and I love that there is no messy mist!!
My only concern about this unit is the following... when it comes time for me to clean my unit for the very first time, I will not able to clean the inside of the water pump as it is all enclosed except for where the small sponge filter is located on the lower side. The instructions for cleaning don't have instructions for cleaning the pump, but maybe I will also soak it in diluted white vinegar and then rinse well before reusing.
I would recommend this to a friend!
