Replacement for Duet Washer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the machine. It has wash and dry feature, which is convenient for some situations, but the drying time is long. I use our stand alone Fuet dryer for most loads. I do love the larger capacity and many times I use Quick Wash/Towels and the wash cycle is 15 minutes. My clothing is generally lightly soiled, and I am satisfied with the result. My only complaint is that it doesn’t spin out as effectively as the previous Duet washer. It results in shorter wash but longer drying time. We are a five unit coop and everyone is happy with the machine. Some owners use the Wash and Dry feature, especially those on higher floors, saving a trip up and down the stairs to the basement.

Run away from this ridiculous machine

These washer/dryer all in one unit are horrible! Do not buy, if they start it takes 4 to 6 hours for 1 tiny load and the clothes are still wet! I promise you youll end up at a laundry mat, it sounds to good to be true "all in one" well thats because IT IS! I cant even give it 1 star.but i had to so can submit this review.

Has some kinks to work out

We bought this in October and started using it in December. We have 3 cats and this probably contributes to the washer frequently clogging due to the lint management system. When this happens, you have to drain the basin and the setup for this is not ideal. We can go 4 full loads before we get the error message and have to unclog again.
During the drying cycle, water accumulates in the detergent tray, and then drips down the side of the unit to the floor. Poor design.
Other issue is the control panel sometime is unresponsive and I have to unplug the unit and plug it back in.

Terrible Machine, do not get your hopes up!

This is a great idea on paper and would be great. But the product does not live up to a standard washer and dryer. It takes 8-10 hours to go through an entire cycle. There is no way to do a quick dry like a normal dryer. It consistently throws error codes. The hose to drain the unit is about 4 inches long and doesn't reach out of the machine. You have to take the load-and-go drawer completely out to drain it and to clean out the wet lint. You also have to clean the ring around the opening so that your clothes do not get lint on them when coming out. For most loads, we need to run a full wash/dry cycle, then put it through again for another two dry cycles. If you don't do that, then it stays damp and gross. I really wish this spent more time at the drawing board. I cannot even return it now. It was supposed to make improve our life at home, but it hasn't. The maintenance has made is much more complex. I hope it is recalled because this does not live up to Whirlpool's standard of producing high-quality products for all customers. Do not buy.

Good technology with a minor design flaw.

I have been using this washer/dryer for about a week in my apartment. I purchased it because I have no hook ups and the apartment company charges 2.75 for a wash and 2.75 minimum for 50 min dry.
It works great. It is a great washer, it vibrates a little when on max spin speed but a 50mm/1.96 gap between spaces is code and is more than enough.
That being said, it also drys the clothes but this is not as efficient as a vented dryer. I have put it through its paces and it will wash and dry a cal king comforter heavy weight in about 4.5 hours. It handled a load of socks and underwear above the fill line for drying in about 3 hours. It works for 1 person living alone. I tried washing and dry only instead of wash/dry and the results were damp. If you dry on dry only it spins then drys no matter what but doesnt dry all the way... So the best way is wash and dry.
It works!! Your clothes will be washed and dry. However, there is a slight design flaw with the detergant/softerner dispencer. Steam comes out of the dispencer when it drys. I had a tech come and diagnose it because I thought it was a defect. The hose that puts the detergent into the drum for washing does not have a valve. As a result, you will get some minor condensation/steam coming from the dispencer on the top of the machine. Its not too bad but a design flaw in my opinion. I guess you could block the opening with something when drying but that is optional. It doesnt make my apartment humid or anything.
Finally and again, it works and is a lot less expensive than LG. It is basic and gets the job done with the exeception of the minor flaw I described.
One last thing, you have to clean the rubber seal with something because it doesnt have a lint trap. You can use anything and Whirlpool recommends a specific item but I found clorox disenfecting wipes the cheapest option. About every 2 loads there will be lint all around the seal inside and out. I just use about 2 clorox wipes and it gets most of it and disenfects also.

I love my combo washer dryer But they need a (better lint management system) too much lint build up on door gasket and hard to remove. Otherwise does a great job.
