My wife and I purchased a new home and we will primarily live on the ground floor. The cable modem is in the Utility room so we needed to extend the Wi-Fi to all areas of the ground floor and also may need to connect a VoIP device and a Streaming device to the extender. I was very familiar with Asustek as I built several PC towers using their motherboards in the 90's. I bought two of the RP-BE58 extenders and configured them to work with the cable modem and so far, they're working well.
My Asus Router would not reliably connect to 3 of my battery powered outdoor cameras. I chose this RP-BE58 Range Extender to try to solve the problem. It works great. The setup was very easy using the AIMESH method. After installing in the final location, I ran a Cat 6 cable to the device, and it connected via wire without any issues. I am very pleased with this device.
I just upgrade our router and signal strength was ok but not where I would like it. I purchased the ASUS Extender to help increase signal strength in the low signal area in our home. I am truly amazed at how much better the signal strength is now. Great Quality and Performance. I recommend this the ASUS BE58 to pair up with the ASUS router to achieve a great signal strength though out a home.
I gave up trying to connect it as a IMesh unit and using it as a repeater. Works great, I will just have to log in to 2 seperate webpages to manage my Asus router and Asus extender.
I am disappointed that I cannot get this to work with either my ASUS AXE16000 router (now an AiNode) or my BE96U router (my home's active router and AiHub). Every time I follow the guide it fails, and investigation reveals that it has attempted to use the Ethernet port as backhaul instead of the 5GHz band I wanted, or any WiFi band.
All I want is to use the 5GHz band as backhaul so that I may extend a 2.4GHz band out to more distant home automation devices. I am pretty sure I have not been confused reading the promotional materials but it basically does not do what it is advertised to do as part of my AiMesh setup.
It must have been sent back to Factory Reset more than dozen times and set up in slightly different circumstances each time with the same broken result.
Would work out great if I had wanted to use an Ethernet backhaul to extend both 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands out to the furthest end of my home. But I do not.

Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for your comment.
We do understand your disappointment with the product and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are experiencing issues setting up this device as a 5 GHz backhaul. To use the 5 GHz as a backhaul connection on this router, you need to configure AiMesh and adjust the backhaul connection priority. This setup allows the BE-BE58 to connect to the main router using 5 GHz band, freeing up the 2.4 GHz for other devices.
