Easy Setup, But Not for Every Pup

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The PetSafe Outlast Water Fountain was super easy to assemble, and the trickling sound of the water is noticeable but not overly loud—actually kind of soothing. Unfortunately, my elderly dog wasn’t interested in using it at all. I guess the old saying is true: you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. It’s a great concept and seems well-made, just didn’t work for our situation.

Safe to say my cat loves it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As you can see from the pic, my cat loves this fountain enough to use it as a pillow! I LOVE that this is dishwasher safe for easy cleaning. No tiny little parts to get all grimed up. The light is a nice touch such it's visible at all times. The light blinks to let you know when water is low. Instructions were very clear and it was super easy to assemble. Nice capacity, i think it's perfect for cats, though this size would be a bit small for dogs. Only downside for cats is it is a bit loud- not the machine itself but the water movement, which may scare off skittish cats at first. I like that pet has choice to drink from spout or from a little pool of water. The plastic guard that allows the water to pool also keeps from leaving the whole well open so the water stays clean longer. I love that the filter has a tab so it is easy to remove and put back! Im really pleased with this product!

Nice addition for your pets health

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this pet water fountain. It’s very easy to set up and use. It comes in different sizes and even the smaller one is sufficient for my medium sized dog. It does a great job filtering out the water for your pets consumption.

Perfect for small pets!

Mold in the “pump,” design really needs work, don’

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the first pet fountain I’ve tried, and I see what they were trying to do, but it’s just not worth the effort for me. The filter doesn’t really do much to keep the water any cleaner than a regular water bowl. And when I would take it apart to do a proper cleaning, there seemed to be mold growing on the inside crevices of the “pump,” and there’s no easy way to clean it. Maybe it wouldn’t be an issue with stainless steel? Even without the mold issue, there’s still too many pieces to have to clean, and I don’t love the idea of putting it in the dishwasher. I honestly gave up on it after about 2-3 weeks of use. MAYBE it would be slightly less annoying if it came with another bowl, but that’s already like half of the whole fountain. Looking at the price (I was sent this to try for free), that should have been included along with more filters… but even then it’s ridiculous. And to expect people to replace the filter so often when it doesn’t really do anything to begin with…

It is crucial to mention that mold would be extremely rare when the fountain is cleaned as intended, but slight residue from the carbon filter can occur more often and would be normal. We do recommend fully disassembling and cleaning the fountain every 1-2 weeks. These pieces are dishwasher safe, so placing them on the top rack of your dishwasher would not damage them.
Additionally, these filters do remove bad tastes and odors from tap water to make it more palatable for your pet to drink; we do apologize for any confusion. If your pet drinks tap water just as readily as filtered water, this fountain can certainly be operated without the filters if you would prefer. Most homes that use filters change theirs at around 2-4 weeks.

Quiet!

I will say there are little nooks and crannies that can be a pain to clean but I just use a little spoolie to get in the and scrub. Other then that it runs quiet and keeps the kitties water nice and clean!
