Great addition to my portable Air Conditioner

Cooler and more efficient

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was lucky enough to be able to get the GE portable dual AC hose conversion kit. Although I thought the GE portable unit was working okay – after installing the kit I can see how much better it could be. The kit was very easy to install and seems much more efficient now. We use it in my sons upstairs room where it is exposed to the Texas heat and sun all day and get’s 10-15 degrees warmer than the rest of the house. The portable unit was doing well but the addition of the dual hose kit made it even cooler and the main unit doesn’t seem to have to work as hard as it was.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The plastic is sturdy and durable. Flexible and easy install. We are happy with this product and so far it works as it is supposed to.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This hose kit improves the cooling of my freestanding AC unit. It improves the cooling by 3x (according to the marketing) and I can report it is indeed improved. I would highly recommend getting this kit for your AC too. A++

More Efficient

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The kit directs the air better for cooling the discharge air of the air conditioner. Better cooling of the unit makes for better cooling of the air I get in my room. The kit has two new panels for duct hook up, and the window duct bracket is now for two ducts instead of one. Love the insulation that goes over the hot air duct leaving my unit, as this keeps the heat out of my living space. It used to get pretty warm coming out of my unit, and now I can barely feel it when I touch the duct. The upgrade kit is simple in installation and in understanding of the instructions. Very good idea here, and I like the way my unit is performing now. More efficient means less cost to run unit and better/cooler supply air to my room. Making the discharge air better routed, means my compressor will run cooler and last longer.

Product is a total waste of money!

This dual hose conversion kit is a joke. The large dual hose conversion baffle has air vents on the side that let the AC unit pull in air from inside the house, completely defeating the entire purpose of a dual hose system. It’s basically a single hose setup with extra parts slapped on. The intake hose barely moves any air because the unit is just sucking it from the room instead through the side vent. Total waste of money. It does nothing to improve efficiency and feels like a cheap gimmick designed to fool people who actually care about performance.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are more than happy to provide guidance with dual hose conversion kit. You’ll notice from the photo on our GE Appliances website that one cover has vents, and one does not.
Ideally, we would prefer to have no vents on the side. The large units use higher current and requiring 100% of inlet air to go through inlet hose which raises the current above what is allowed by code and raises probability of tripping the breakers. The smaller units don’t have this issue and don’t have louvers.
The unit with louvers on the side still pulls in a large % of air from outside to cool the condenser and subsequently exhausts that air back outside. Instead of pulling 100% of the air through gaps/door openings in the home.
