Solid Phone for S22 Users and Older
on April 24, 2025

This phone is generally better than the S22U I upgraded from, in basically every way, except the S Pen which is only an issue for photography; I used that function for taking 10x+ zoom photos, which I don't do often but is useful for taking photos of birds and animals which I like to do. With that one complaint out of the way, this is a very fast phone, and it is very customizable, while not overloading you with options, and giving useful tools to navigate the settings (highlighting the relevant setting to effect an apps function is SO helpful). The new notifications menu is great, and the "Now Bar" is actually more useful than a dynamic island because it's at the bottom of the screen. The screen is also noticeably better, but the main way that's appreciable is I don't have to hide my phone from direct sunlight in order to use the screen which is fantastic but a lack of friction isn't as obvious as a new menu screen. I also notice the battery life is better, probably 20% improvement on the S22U new, and closer to 50% more battery now, comparing the old S22U to the new S25U.
I will say I use Google services almost exclusively, Chrome for browsing, Drive and its suite for productivity, YT and YT music for entertainment and the new Samsung UI fits it quite well at least in terms of home screen aesthetics.
1 feature I wish Samsung added is customization to widget stacks swiping (mine swipe horizontally and I want to stack them to vertically). And it'd be nice to lock app permissions/removal within the native settings/app preferences & perms rather than having to set up Knox (if that can even lock certain perms without biometrics, IDK haven't set it up).
One more thing, the Tab Ultra line needs the keyboard to have a slight tilt to it, so you can fit a battery and BT in it, to give the keyboard the ability to extend the tabs battery life, and also allowing you to use the keyboard undocked, which turns it into a mobile desktop type unit, if I got bt speakers with stereo capabilities, it's theater-esque, or even just with good headphones for single person use.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A downgrade from previous generations

I went into the flagship ultra line because the S25 Ultra Carried with it incredible specs compared to the plus and standard lineup's.
Alas, I was met with an overpriced flagship that can't keep up with it's predecessors in terms of Camera functionality and system stability. I'm sure that the bugs will be fixed in the future, however, compared to its competition, the S25 Ultra falls short on its image post processing. System volume through Bluetooth is also not for the hearing impaired as it's incredibly quiet through any headphones or Car radio connected to it. I think I may return to view my options to switch out of this phone as it's incredibly disappointing for how little I got for my money. Not to mention Samsung removing the shutter functionality on the S-Pen is kind of a deal breaker for this device as even the AI is limited and doesn't showcase much.
When a previous gen has better image processing than the latest and Greatest tech.
What worse is that Samsung doesn't seem to really care for addressing the issues in systems that their consumers use most as the camera issues seem to be an ongoing issue. I think Samsung should check their competitors software and learn a thing or two.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great phone, very few issues and overall best.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Galaxy S25 Ultra has been incredible to have and I truely do believe it is the best phone in the american market at the moment. That said it isn't perfect. My least favorite part of this phone are the infinitely useless and annoying AI features that are a pain to disable. The AI features have no real life use and are sometimes even inconvenient, like gemini which can't perform simple tasks that the google assistant can. The second criticism I have for this phone is that I have to download 6 extra apps to unlock the full customization abilities of the device and even then it lacks some simple customizations like the fingerprint animation on the AOD. The third and last criticism I have for it, although small is that samsung dex is no longer supported on a pc, which was my only way of using dex. Although I just stated 3 shortcomings of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, it is still the most complete phone I have ever used. And I wouldn't give it up for any other phone.
