This is our second Cuisinart grind and brew. The last one is about seven years old. The new one is improved and like the older one makes great coffee. The hinged lid on the filter basket is the best. The three main components clean quickly. Visitors all love the morning coffee. And, there might be some converts to Cuisinart.

This is a great coffee pot in many ways. I love the looks and the apparent quality of the little machine. You have the choice of grinding fresh beans or using pre-ground coffee, with just the push of a button. The controls are simple to use. However, I have been disappointed with two issues. The carafe with stainless steel handle that comes with the coffee pot, DCC 400 series, leaks coffee under the lip when pouring a cup. The seal is inadequate between the glass and the rim, and there is no way to stop this drip safely. I immediately called the company since it has a three-year warranty and asked that the carafe be replaced and they said they would not - even Suggested I go back to the store and exchange for another. Since I bought the last one on the shelf and they store is not planning to restock, this was impossible. Only two options I have - to buy a new one myself, or remember to use a towel under the lip when I’m pouring my coffee.
Second issue concerns the grinder, which is the default whenever you turn on the coffee pot, whether it be manually or by programming. You must remember to turn the grinder off before you push the start button or the program button. This seems backwards. Failure to do so turns on the grinder first! Can you imagine the shock at 6:00 AM!

I love that they have upgraded the unit with a backlit display and have added a four hour delay in the shut off feature. I have been using the Cuisinart grind and brew coffee makers for more than a dozen years now and love them.
