Bought this machine to replace an older grind & brew. Makes great coffee and has the convenience of single cup brewing. Major drawback is the time it takes to get machine ready to brew another pot. The old pot held up to 1/2 pounds of beans. This is single pot grind and bean grinder must be disassembled & cleaned after each use. A mechanism to close out steam getting into the grinder would be a cure for that.

So far so good. I wish there was a way to turn off the alarm after the coffee has been made and I also wish there were a backlight to the clock but other than that I really like it.

This should be a five-star review. There's almost nothing to dislike about this machine. Over the years, I've owned and really liked at least 5 different Cuisinart Grind and Brew coffeemakers, and this one is by far the best. It's easy to set up, easy to program, easier than any of the previous models to clean, and it makes a really good pot of coffee.
The attached pod coffee maker is icing on the cake.
In the morning before setting out on a busy day, we always make a pot of coffee and have a couple of cups while we read a book and just get ready for th day. We finish the last of the pot over breakfast.
As soon as the pot is empty, we clean everything up and get the coffeemaker ready for the next day
But here comes the great part. In the afternoon, when our energy begins to sag, we just break out two pods and have a single cup each without any fuss or waste - FANTASTIC !
But here is the problem. It is almost impossible to know how much water is in the pod reservoir. We have to pull the entire coffeemaker out to the edge of the sink so we can lift the reservoir lid and shine a flashlight in to see the water level. The few pennies Cuisinart saved by not putting a window in the housing cost them a star in my review and slightly tarnished what should have been a stellar product

This coffee maker is great!! It gives you the option of brewing a full pot of coffee with either whole beans with built in grinder or ground coffee. If that isn’t enough, you can also make a single cup of coffee with K-cup feature.

Out of the box this coffee maker is really nice. It looks great and it feels well built. If sitting on my counter was the only thing I needed this coffee maker for, I would give it 5 stars. Here’s where it falters a little bit in my opinion. My previous coffee maker was also a Cuisinart with a built-in bean grinder on the top. We had that one for over 10 years. When it started to leak and not work right, we looked for a replacement. My wife wanted something with a Keurig attached. I wanted one with a built-in bean grinder. This one fits both needs.
The very first time I used the coffee grinder I thought the thing was gonna take flight. The grinder is LOUD! Not only is it loud but after the beans are done grinding the blades continue for about another 20 seconds or so. Which makes a sound like the machine is about to burn up. I’m assuming this is how it’s supposed to operate. I followed the instructions on how many scoops of beans I should use based on how many cups of coffee (I made 10 cups). I used a medium roast coffee, one that I’ve used many times before, and the first brew was very weak. Granted, I do like my coffee a little bit more robust, but I shouldn’t be able to see through the coffee. So on the next brew I adjusted the amount of beans. Pretty much filling the grinder basket to the max. That brew was much better. So filling the basket to the top is pretty much where I’ve settled for a majority of the coffee that I make, regardless if the beans are medium or dark roast, (a little less beans with dark roast). The one thing I have found, if you have light roast beans, it’s almost impossible to get a pot of coffee that doesn’t look like tea even when you turn the “bold” button on and fill the grinder basket to the max level. Which was never an issue with my previous coffee maker. So it’s medium or dark roast. Which I guess I’m ok with. But I just find that there’s some inconsistencies with the brewing. You have to tinker a little bit based on the strength of the roast, how much coffee, etc. Again, something I never had to do with my previous coffee maker. I put the beans, dialed the amount of coffee, and pressed go. Also, the fact that you have to clean the grinder basket and top after every use is kind of pain. But that’s just me being a little nitpicky.
On to the single serve side. For the most part, this works as advertised. With the exception of the preset ounces. The coffee maker has presets of 8 oz, 10 oz, and 12 oz. But on mine, 8 is 10, 10 is 12, and 12 is 16. So either that was done by design. Or the calibration is off. But now that I know this I can adjust accordingly. The other thing I’m not crazy about is the fact that you always have to keep at least 13.5 oz of water in the reservoir for it to work. My wife and I don’t do single cups everyday. So depending on how often you use the single serve side, you could have water sitting in the reservoir for months. That’s kind of gross. But I guess that’s just me being a little nitpicky again.
I guess at the end of the day I would recommend this coffee maker with the caveat that it takes a little bit of time to get used to using it.
