The coffee is great, don't get me wrong. However, having switched from a Cuisinart Grind & Brew with the hopper, this one has multiple design flaws. The water tank for the carafe side is awkward to fill (don't get the grinder wet!), the grinder is hard to clean and requires bean filling each time, the water tank for the pod side needs a hinge on the lid and a gauge to see fill level easier. Overall, makes amazing coffee and I'm using it, but there is a lot left to be desired in the ease of use category.
Brews a great, fresh pot of coffee! Love the addition of the keurig single cup option! Wish it had a hopper to hold a larger amount of beans vs. having to refill every time. Moreover, moisture gets into the bean receptacle/grinder which makes it necessary to clean after every single use.
This is the coffee maker i have been dreaming of for a long time. It covers grinding beans, ground coffee and one cup brews. And it works like a dream. My last pot had the burr grinder, this one has the blade grinder. I prefer the blade grinder. And the pot of coffee is done brewing in a jiffy. All in all, I love my new Coffee Center grind and brew. Worth every penny!!
Cool idea, not so cool design. The reservoir for the water is too narrow and because the carafe is NOT spill-proof, the water gets into the grinder area and spills through onto the burner area. You have to be very careful when pouring or you get a soaking wet filter, which is no big deal until it spills all over your counter. The grinder is a great idea but sits above the brewing coffee so the fine coffee dust turns to a paste when the steam from the pot gets up into it after one brew. A couple of the buttons are confusing like the "Grind off" button light needs to be turned "ON" to turn the grinder off for any brew. To do a normal brew, you have to choose the "Carafe" button "ON" but for Auto-Brew, you don't have to turn it on. Another great feature is the Keurig compatible brewer on the side. It works great for just coffee, but for Keurig hot cocoa, it makes a hot mess. Last but not least, another awesome thing about this brewer is that the Keurig side has a removable tray to fit up to 20 oz travel mugs...just don't fill them all the way up since you have to tilt the cup to get it in and out of the brewer, (don't ask me what I was thinking that morning). If the tray slid in and out it would be great, but alas, it lifts out keeping the mess off your counter in a small square reservoir, until you over fill your travel cup and have to tilt it to get it out. Even with all that, I still like it better than my old 2015 Keurig coffee maker that used K-Pods that couldn't make a decent carafe of coffee, which they were made to do, and were discontinued shortly after I bought it 5 years ago.
Overall, I like the unit. It is nice to have a 2-in-1 unit - a coffee maker when we want to make a whole pot on the weekends, and a single serve for workday mornings. The grinder is built in so no need to have a separate grinder in your cabinet or on your countertop. However, I feel like there are a few improvements that could be made to the unit that would be very convenient. I would prefer the display to be backlit so that I could see it without the lights on in the kitchen. The unit is tall, and the water and grinder access is on the top, so if you have it under a standard mounted wall cabinet, it would need to be pulled out so that you can open the lids to refill water and coffee beans. We had to relocate ours to a different area so that we could open the lids fully. Also, the water reservoir is a 40 oz capacity which is small for 2 people who drink a couple of cups a day. Plus side is that you always have fresh water because you are refilling it frequently! It is difficult to see how full the single serve reservoir is so we have overflowed it a couple of times. There is a hole near the top of the reservoir and when you overfill it, it spills out of there. Kinda messy. Again, if the side was clear, you could fill it without overflowing it. It seems to work with most pods, but we have found a less common brand of pod that absolutely doesn't work with it. Punches a big hole in the pod and water and grounds leak out EVERYWHERE. Also, on the coffee maker, there are no grind adjustments (coarser or finer) so I assume it was designed to grind for that particular filter style and no need to adjust. Overall we like the unit but I think with some improvements to it, we would LOVE it.
I love this product! The grinder works great and is easy to keep clean! And it makes a great cup of coffee! And I love the one cup option for that extra after dinner needed cup or guests that like a specialty flavor! A great product!
