This is a very good dual purpose machine especially at this price. This was bought to replace a stand alone Cuisinart 12 cup machine with a bean hopper. We love the versatility of a full carafe or a single cup however where this machine falls short is in the 12 cup carafe which we use all the time. The older machine held 2 - 4 lbs of fresh beans and grinded those beans with a grinder which was perfectly done every time. This machine only holds a cup of beans per pot and uses a blade to cut the beans so not only do you have alot more to clean out before every pot of coffee but because the blade type cutter does not grind the beans as well the coffee flavor is not as consistent. Had we know this prior to purchasing this machine we would not have gotten it. Most people who have not used a grinder at all would probably not know the difference. We have had a better Cuisinart machine before this and so we are used to that very rich coffee flavor. I will add that the reason our old machine went out was due to consistent use and the the grinder section went bad as it was unserviceable. I see that Cuisinart tried to correct this by making the blade grinder removable and cleanable. Very nice on their part to at least recognize a past problem and try to fix it. Now what they need to is make a serviceable or removable true grinder rather than bade type system as it is much better at making very good coffee.

Love it. Great to be able to make a single cup whenever I want!

I bought this to replace our old grind n brew and a Keurig. I wanted only one machine, and didn't want to give up my freshly ground beans. I love this coffee maker more than I thought I would. It's on the taller side, but fits nicely in our kitchen.

This is an amazing machine! The grind is quieter than the last machine we had, still have noise, but not shake the house noisy! You have to clean in out after each use, and reload the beans each time, which is kind of a pain, but the coffee tastes nice and fresh, so it’s worth the extra time. We like the single cup option a lot, it’s nice for a mid day coffee or evening tea.

Not the most intuitive design and function. Making a full pot with grinder requires extensive steps and cleanup. On the plus side coffee is hot and bold is BOLD. Factory build can be an issue and our first one leaked. Not quite the art of cuisin(e) we have come to expect.

After a long back and forth with a different model, I'm very pleased with this Cuisinart grind and brew machine. I was skeptical of the grind function, but reassured from future daughter-in-law who's used hers for several years and recommended it. The previous model I bought was a single serve with thermal carafe that just didn't get hot enough for me. While the single serve side was fine, the machine has no way to protect from coffee spraying from the dispenser (it gets all over the counter; I "solved" that problem by putting something under the cup bringing it higher to the dispenser, which worked mostly). The other side, with the carafe and heating element, did not stay hot for even 10 minutes and the carafe, though thermal and heavy, really didn't keep coffee very warm. Forward to this grind and brew, with a glass carafe that is satisfactorily hot for well over an hour (that's all I've tested it so far) and a revised single serve side that has a drop down shelf for smaller cups - which sorta prevents the spray, but not completely. Another complaint I've read is that the water reservoir overflows - and it does because it's in back of the unit and you can't really tell where the max fill line is (upon inspection, you can clearly read the max fill line and see the little overflow hole, but it is hard to see from the front of the machine) - so I just fill it sparsely every few days and watch to make sure I have't gone too far. With credit due to Cuisinart, they were very responsive with my dilemma and sent me not one but 2 machines in my effort to find the "perfect" coffee maker. I'm not sure this is perfect, but it's darn close. Love the single serve ability since I seldom drink more than one cup a day, but when friends and family are here, it's great to have a carafe that stays hot all morning! Looking forward to holidays with a kitchen full and all coffee cups happily filled! While the grinder works, it is quite loud, but it's really nice to have that function. I grind my own beans anyway; wish I could use the machine grinder for grinding my beans for single serve. Maybe Cuisinart will consider!
