This is a very good dual purpose machine especially at this price. This was bought to replace a stand alone Cuisinart 12 cup machine with a bean hopper. We love the versatility of a full carafe or a single cup however where this machine falls short is in the 12 cup carafe which we use all the time. The older machine held 2 - 4 lbs of fresh beans and grinded those beans with a grinder which was perfectly done every time. This machine only holds a cup of beans per pot and uses a blade to cut the beans so not only do you have alot more to clean out before every pot of coffee but because the blade type cutter does not grind the beans as well the coffee flavor is not as consistent. Had we know this prior to purchasing this machine we would not have gotten it. Most people who have not used a grinder at all would probably not know the difference. We have had a better Cuisinart machine before this and so we are used to that very rich coffee flavor. I will add that the reason our old machine went out was due to consistent use and the the grinder section went bad as it was unserviceable. I see that Cuisinart tried to correct this by making the blade grinder removable and cleanable. Very nice on their part to at least recognize a past problem and try to fix it. Now what they need to is make a serviceable or removable true grinder rather than bade type system as it is much better at making very good coffee.

I like this coffee maker in theory but it is ridiculous....the single cup side spills coffee everywhere no matter what type of pod I use. And the coffee grinds get caked in the grinder and don't fully dump into the basket.

Thank you for your feedback—we’re sorry to hear about the issues you’ve experienced and appreciate you bringing them to our attention. Spilling on the single-cup side can sometimes occur if the cup size selected does not match the pod or if the drip tray and pods need to be completely punctured, while grounds caking in the grinder may improve with regular cleaning and ensuring the grind chute is clear before brewing. I bought this to replace our old grind n brew and a Keurig. I wanted only one machine, and didn't want to give up my freshly ground beans. I love this coffee maker more than I thought I would. It's on the taller side, but fits nicely in our kitchen.

This is an amazing machine! The grind is quieter than the last machine we had, still have noise, but not shake the house noisy! You have to clean in out after each use, and reload the beans each time, which is kind of a pain, but the coffee tastes nice and fresh, so it’s worth the extra time. We like the single cup option a lot, it’s nice for a mid day coffee or evening tea.

Not the most intuitive design and function. Making a full pot with grinder requires extensive steps and cleanup. On the plus side coffee is hot and bold is BOLD. Factory build can be an issue and our first one leaked. Not quite the art of cuisin(e) we have come to expect.
