Cuisinart Coffee Maker Occasionally Overflows

We have enjoyed Cuisinart in the past. However, this one, despite how careful we are setting it up occasionally overflows. If we send it back under warranty we won't have a coffee maker!

Purchased this model to replace same one that quit working. Features are the same with some slight design modifications.
This far, it's worked well. However, have a couple issues: 1) when adding water after brewing stops (my wife doesn't like her coffee as strong as me) it doesn't seem to continue brewing, or at least does so very slowly, unless you turn off and back on again and 2) the unit has already needed cleaning even though it's still very new. Our last one seemed to go much longer before it's first cleaning.
This far, it's worked well. I'm getting used to it and can figure out what to change if necessary. My previous toaster oven was a little bigger so had more room for baking etc. Have to lower baking temp about 25 degrees or things get to done.
