I was a little concerned when our 20+ year old toaster oven handle broke and we had to purchase new one. Frequently one hears or experiences that the product is not as good as the original; such was NOT the case of our new convection toaster oven. The unit appears to be well-made and maybe more substantial. The electronics and operation are vastly improved; instead of turning a dial and hoping that the 425 degrees is actually 425, an LED number appears. Similarly with toasting; instead of setting the darkness know halfway between dark and light, you set a numerical number. For those of you that enjoy toasted bagels, there’s a separate setting for those. It even seems to warm-up and bake items faster. All in all, a pleasant surprise.

I agree with several of the prior reviews but I still bought this model. It is not the most intuitive model but now that we’ve had a chance to use it I think it’s great. And it looks better than my old white model. I agree the tray is a little bit flimsier than the old model’s tray but do far it has cleaned up well. The little rack that fits on the tray is flimsy but I’ve used it a few times and it washed up well and did the job reheating. I have silicone sheets I cut to line the tray which makes cleanup easy and keeps the tray cleaner. A big improvement is the crumb tray can be removed from the front vs the back which was annoying with the old model. Even my husband cleans it once in a while now. I agree the tinted glass forces you to open the door to check on the food’s progress but now that we’ve figured out what’s setting to use for which kind of bread, I’m not opening the door to check my food as often. Although I have to say I had a few burnt edges before I got the hang of the setting. I don’t mind that when baking an item it automatically sets the timer for you, but it’s easy enough to add more time during cooking and to add the convection option. I think the old model has a stronger fan but it’s still not a deal breaker. I also don’t mind the twist dial to navigate around settings or to change the darkness, etc. The Old toaster had push buttons that eventually cracked. But that machine worked like a champ for many years. I took it to the shed at our dump and someone grabbed it so I think it’s still being used, LOL. Will this model last as long? The jury is still out but I think it’ll last for a decent amount of time.

6 months in the brew function went bazonka. Either stopped midway through a brew or stopped then randomly started. I cleaned the machine regularly which was CS's suggestion, but re-cleaning it did nothing to help. I was handled awkwardly by CS but eventually received a replacement. We will see how well that works.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
