Structure is not sound

I have two other lego art sets, and I was impressed with the way they were structured. I wish I could say the same with this one. The backing where the panels are placed is not stable or sturdy, and has led to my set breaking several times because the support system cannot handle the weight of the actual “painting”. I know LEGO is capable of making sets that can structurally handle themselves, but for some reason that knowledge was not applied to this one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Being a beginner to lego and who had only built the 800 piece roses build I saw this and immediately wanted to give it a try. It wasn't difficult at all and was extremely satisfying to put together. Actually looking forward to try more now!

I was so excited for this build but the connections between the plates kept falling off as we added new pieces. It was super frustrating. The end build was beautiful but it was the worst art build we’ve ever done.

A Beautiful Build

Wow! My husband preordered this for me as my first LEGO kit since we have seen this painting in person and are trying to add more art to our walls at home. I couldn’t be happier with the whole experience.
As a first time builder, I found the paper manual and the builder app very clear and easy to follow. My whole build was finished the same day it was delivered, and is already proudly displayed on our wall.
I also really appreciate that the podcast that went along with the kit that gave some great background about Van Gogh. The fact that the extension of the painting was intentionally incorporated into the build experience was one of my favorite parts.
I would highly recommend this kit and will definitely be back to buy other kits in the future!

Anyone else having issue getting the back framing to stay stuck? I was four bags away from finishing this evening when I started to restabilize the back and the entire thing collapsed on itself. Beyond many hours lost I’m not sure I can get it to be stable to hold all the weight when I rebuild. Has anyone else had this issue? Never experienced this with the great wave. The brown cross bars never stay stuck in the back panels and then the circles don’t stay to the brown bar lego and it just devolves.

Poorly Engineered

The foundations of this build are so so so so lacking that it is just sad. The foundation that is expected to hold all of the many layers of sunflowers and such on top is barely holding on with single point brick snapping. Its laughable and sad all at the same time.

Just wow! The final product looks amazing and would look great decorating a wall in anyone’s home. The build was fun and interesting. Very nice touch to listen to the podcast and learn more about van gogh while building. It’s a great addition to the lego art collection. I would love to see more in this series done as well as this set!

Back is SO unstable

While building this i noticed the back of the picture was VERY unstable and kept breaking off. Im currently on bag 29 and most of the back has broken off. It’s making me so frustrated I don’t even know if I want to finish building it. I live this set and building it is fun but ive been getting beyond frustrated
