Great design, poor designed release clip

I bought this bag as my everyday bag to carry my phone and wallet when I don't have any pocket space.
Love the design and sleekness.
A mentioned in other reviews, I hate the design of the quick release clip. Even if I barely touch it, it releases and the bag falls to the ground. I hope the next version of this bag fixes this design flaw on a otherwise nicely designed bag

Very small, and able to carry camera(s)

I really liked Bev's video about the 2L bag. I was looking for something minimalist to carry my camera while walking in the streets without showing off the camera. While they don't promote it as a camera bag, I am kind of stubborn, and was able the carry 2 cameras, a Medium format, and a MTF, with spare battery for each.

Functional but Disappointing Fabric Wear
on April 14, 2025

I purchased the Outdoor Sling for a recent trip, and while I found the size to be just right and it comfortable to carry, I was disappointed to notice some pilling on the back fabric after just three weeks of use. This was unexpected, especially considering the great quality I've come to expect from other PD products. While the sling served its purpose during the trip, the fabric wear was a bit of a letdown.

Simple safety solution
on May 24, 2025

So there's a lot of complaints about the buckle being easy to accidentally open and I came up with a simple solution that works for me. By attaching the included key bungee to the attachment point and then I added a simple key ring to the buckle release side of the strap. Now, once I put it on, I can clip the key ring to the bungee for safety in case the buckle is opened by mistake. When not needed, the key bungee can slip into the rear strap storage area. See photos.

Not great for camera but decent otherwise

Was planning to use it with the camera cube. Unfortunately it just didn't work out for me. The cube fits what I want, but once it's in the bag, it just doesn't quite gel. There's a bit of space around the cube, but not enough to be useful. I wish the cube either consumed the whole space, or had more room, with a preference for the latter.
The bag, by itself, is decent. My two biggest complaints about the bag (especially coming from other PD bags):
1) I found it inconvenient to unzip one handed.
2) After being spoilt by how nice PD bags feel in had, I'm beginning to despise the grab handle on this bag. Wish it was a little wider or rounder. This just sort of cuts into the hand.

Not safe for carry

So, I've had the 7l sling for a few weeks. And unfortunately there is a massive oversight on the locking clip. If you grab the sling at the clasp connection point, it opens and falls to the ground. I hadn't grabbed the insert for the bag yet as it was out of stock at the time and my camera hit the concrete and Ice without a protective layer .. camera was fine, I got lucky. But this is not a camera bag. And as much as I love the everyday sort of design. This is a massive fail being so easy to accidentally unhinge the connection. There is no safety mechanism at the hinge area whatsoever. And I have alot of PD products. Since the beginning. Pretty disappointed and will be returning

Not safe for cameras

I purchased this sling through the Kickstarter campaign and have been using it regularly since it arrived. First and foremost, it’s a fantastic sling-lightweight, with just the right number of pockets and a perfect size. I use a lot of Peak Design products daily (backpacks, slings, camera gear, iPhone case). Not because I was a fan boy (though I am now), but because after trying gear from various brands, Peak Design’s products usually come out on top.
Unfortunately, that’s not the case with this sling. While I appreciate how well it integrates into the Peak Design system and works with the small camera cube, I find it unusable as a camera bag. The main issue is the buckle: it opens far too easily, requiring only slight pressure. On several occasions, it has opened accidentally, and only by luck did my camera avoid damage. This is especially risky when the camera is attached to the capture clip, as it could fall to the ground unprotected.
If this were any other brand, I might have given it two or three stars. However, since Peak Design has to hold up to its own high standards, giving more than one star wouldn’t be appropriate.

Great quality, but some weak design

I got this one backed on the Kickstarter. I'm using the sling for daily committing, dog walking, car driving etc. for over 4 months. So I packed all the stuff I need over a typical day: all keys, a charger with a cable, sunglasses, some cloth. A big iPhone with a case fits perfectly in the external pocket. The sling can be extended to fit a 0,5L bottle or a big coffee can. Even a rain jacket can be packed inside the main pocket without causing any discomfort.
The sling, even loaded, is very a lightweight one. The belt protects well for pressure. A small cord can be used for better hold on the back. If I require a bigger storage, I pick my PD Daily Backpack and put this sling as a small stuff container between two separators inside the backpack. Now in winter, I'm carrying the sling over my right shoulder on the back. The hip carrying not tested. For summer, I got a small 2L sling.
Some cons are there though. Because of very light weight, the sling lacks the form stability. So in most cases, both hands are needed to close and open the zipper. The belt clip occasionally opens, if a hand grips on it, to move the sling from the back to the chest. The sling falls in this case to the ground. I'm carrying no camera in it, so no expensive damage so far. But it can go worse, if the ground is dirty.
In overall, a good item with few weak solutions in design.
