Excellant machine

The printer has a good document feeder, scans well in color and black and white, makes faxing easy and prints well. the two sided option is a nice feature. Set-up was not as intuitive as other multifunction machines but it out performs the previous machine we had from another manufacturer. I recently purchased a Brother Laser printer and am highly satisfied by both products.

I like the quality of the print it has good speed and is easy to use. I do wish it was a little quieter you will know when it is advancing paper.

I bought this machine, assuming that the "scan to e-mail" would work - - - it DOES NOT...... a very very capable person looked at it and said it was not EVER GOING TO WORK. THIS PRODUCT IS TERRIBLE . . Do NOT buy it. and I can NEVER get thru to a HUMAN to get it looked at. . . I was on hold for 25 minutes . . .
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

The MFC-J4510DW supports two types of scanning to an e-mail (Scan to e-mail and Scan to e-mail Server).
Scan to e-mail: Scan to e-mail allows you to scan a document and have it automatically attached to an e-mail in your default e-mail application running on your computer (you must have a working e-mail application running on your computer). If you have installed the Brother MFL-Pro software suite using the included CD-ROM you will have an application called ControlCenter. This application must also be running on your computer for scan to e-mail to work.
When you select scan to e-mail the machine will scan your document and automatically open your default e-mail application on your computer were you can enter the destination e-mail address. The document you scanned will be an attachment to that e-mail and is sent using the e-mail application on your computer (the e-mail is not sent by the MFC).
Scan to e-mail Server: The Scan to e-mail Server allows you to enter an e-mail address directly at the machine and send your document as an e-mail attachment directly through an e-mail server to the destination without using your local computer. Please note that the Scan to Email Server function can be downloaded from http://support.brother.com/g/b/index.aspx.
This feature requires POP3/SMTP mail server support. After the POP3/SMTP mail server/account information is configured correctly in the MFC you will be able to select “Scan to e-mail Server” form the control panel of the machine. From there you can enter a destination e-mail address or select one from the internal address book. Then simply press start and the document will be scanned and sent to the e-mail server that will then forward the e-mail to the final destination.
Details on Scan to E-mail and Scan to e-mail Server can be found in the Software Users Guide located on the installation CD-ROM and on the Brother Support web site.

Love our printer

We use to have a brother color laser printer, we love it, had it for almost 10 years, finally it gave up the ghost (died). We decided to purchase the MFC-J4510DW because we travel full time and this printer is both color and duplex. It is also about 50 lbs lighter. Some have complained about the noise; however, we do not see it as disturbing. We recommend it highly

Hey, setup was easy and not time consuming. The quick setup guide gets you running fast and if you want more functions read the manual, there are lots. The software written for the printer (multi- function-scan, copy, print and fax) is much better than some other printers I've had in the past. Great copies and prints quality pictures. The install disk has all the drivers for OS systems from XP to Windows 8. Brother even sends out updates for better performance to keep up with our ever changing technology.

This printer has all the options and touch screen is really good. Compact and sleek design.Scan colors are not very accurate, speed is not really good. Not recommended for photo prints. Scan files are very large in size compared to other printer I used. Scanner technology is really poor.

Bought this unit for my home office since it had WIFI printing from my mobile and wireless devices. Proved to be a waste of time. Printing is drastically reduce since it's sending the data via WIFI NOT recommended for this purpose. Printing attached to the computer is fast and clean
