worst printer

This printer has been nothing but trouble. customer service doesnt care. This machine misfeeds every time, whether you use the tray or the rear slot. takes it self offline frequently. chews your paper. if you complain they just email you instruction on how to clear a paper jam. But that doesnt fix the real issue. Why does it jam every time in the first place? its also very noisy loading the paper and sounds like its tearing itself up (by the number of jams, it likely is). if its not the paper jam that stops it the printer will just go offline from the computer (using usb) randomly. got a replacement, it cant pass its own print quality check.

Very poor paper feeding

The machine prints very well. Good quality and it fits nicely on the table top without all the appendages one finds on so many printers. That said, the Brother J451ODW - or our particular unit - has the worst paper feeding capabilities of any printer we've used in - well - ever. It is a constant stop and go to print more than one copy without jams or double feeding of paper sheets. This is particularly burdensome when trying to print checks. Sadly, it will need to be returned.

I had to return two of those printers because they both would quit working because of a paper jam, which never occurred but it said it did and would not let us proceed. Sometime the first printer that we returned would jam a lot. I was frustrated and exchanged the 2nd printer for an HP 8600 printer that I haven't had any problems with. These new printers are not reliable and you should recall them, or make something better.

I am very disappointed in this printer. I purchased it after researching for days and decided to go with this model because of the great reviews and the price at the time. I actually purchased it for half the retail; which, is a great deal. The Pros are: set-up was fairly easy, I really like the look of it, it holds a good quantity of paper and the speed is decent, as far as printing. Cons: It takes a while for it to receive the data from my laptop and sometimes it doesn't receive it at all and I really do NOT like the quality of the print. It is very distorted and the color is not bright. It would be good for someone who will not be printing photos and just documents or letters.

good home printer

Installed easily on the network, and both PC and Mac computers print successfully over the wireless. One main reason we chose this model is because there are no controls on the top, so the cats can sleep on it without reseting it or other annoying surprises. Paper tray works well, a little noisy. We have replaced the starter ink but can't tell yet if the super high efficiency cartridges are as good as they say they are. 11X17 is glitchy: Must be hand fed one page at a time, and typically has an error after four or five pages. Also had a trouble with not printing black, and it took a while to figure out we needed to clean the print heads.

Worst printer ever!!! Paper jams!!!!!

I bought for the small footprint, but there is a major design flaw with this printer -- the paper jams 99 times out of 100... and then once I got the paper working again, it would print with no ink... that's right, a blank piece of paper would shoot out. Then after using the Clean function, it finally printed... so it was fixed, right? NO. Next print... jam. PIECE OF JUNK! I normally buy Brother over HP because others I have work great and usually a better overall value, but this one has to be returned.

this is a GREAT muti-function printer. Easy to use & easy to install. Good scanner & printer - don't use fax very much. I have bought another one as well. Only negative is that its loud when it prints - but I HIGHLY recommend it.

A Qaulity Product

This was purchased to replace a well-used Brother printer in my wife's office. For all the capabilities and paper sizes this printer handles, it's overall small footprint is great. (compared to my MFC-6490CW.)
We are very pleased with the quick, quiet operation of this new model. This is one of the few printers we have had that actually has all functions (scanner, printer, fax, etc.) working on our small network. The automatic dual-side print feature is a great paper saver, and the machine seems to be a real ink-miser when printing.
We are looking forward to many years of the same trouble-free service we have come to expect from all the Brother printers we have owned.
