Best all in one printer

I have found this printer to be the best in features and low ink usage. The LCD menu is great with robust features. The printer is fast - make sure you pull out stacking tray or it will shoot paper across the room. The scanner works great for creating multiple page .pdf files.
Being wireless you can organize your office space much more efficiently. The shape of the printer is really well engineered.
The printer is a bit noisy, but my overall vote on this printer is five stars.

works great so far

This machine works great. I am happy with it but the only thing that concerns me is the noise it makes when it grabs the paper. It is kind of loud. I returned the first one for that reason and the second one does the same. It is not giving me any trouble, so I would recommend it.

Great but noisey

It prints well but is very noisey. It sounds as though the plastic gears are clashing and not quite meshing the way they should. I called Brother support line and was told that this is normal! I just hope the machine lasts and doesn't disintegrate from all the internal clashing.

Love the automatic double-sided printing, but

This is one of the fastest printers I've ever owned. The double sided copying & printing are great. I wish I knew how to set it up as a preset to choose as a default.
The only complaint I have is that it is also the noisiest printer I've ever owned. If it were quiet, it would be PERFECT.

Nice Printer with Unique Features; Some Negatives

I bought this printer because (1) it auto-duplexes, (2) it prints on 11x17" paper (rear slot), and (3) it has a low cost when using the XXL cartridges. It was very easy to set up for wireless printing on a Mac using a temporary USB cable under MacOSX 10.6.8, though the install CD will not work under 10.8. One the negative side, the text lettering is not as well formed and laser-like as my old printer that is being semi-retired. Edge-to-edge image printing (8.5x11) is certainly acceptable though again maybe not as perfect as the old printer. The MFC-J4510DW is clearly a up-to-date printer with well-engineered ink handling and ink cost features. I recommend it as a work-horse in a small office. I have yet to explore its scanning and faxing features.

I brought this printer for its all-in-one capabilities but especially its ability to print on 11 x 17 paper. I was disappointed by the feed tray as it frequently led to misaligned prints and waste of paper and ink. It also was cumbersome to have to feed the paper one at a time. The good things are the double-sized printing for the 8x11, and the overall speed. I was not overally impressed with the color and the printer sounds like a potential paper jam everytime it prints standard sizes. Probably will return the printer due to annoying 11 x 17 printing process. Have not try the scanner as of yet.
