Love Brother!!!

This is my second Brother all in one purchase and Brother is the only brand I will ever buy again for printers, scanners, fax and copiers. These machines are the most reliable I have ever used. In addition, the last Brother all in one that I purchased lasted much longer than any other brand I have used in the past.

I've had this printer for about one year. I like the 11x17 option, the WiFi, the scan and the touch screen. It is compact and efficient. I highly recommend this printer for the home office.

Very Good Printer

I use this printer at my home office and have the MFC-J4710 at the office which has two trays, but seems otherwise identical. I love both printers. Among other things the ink lasts much longer than in some other brands and so makes this a very economical printer over time. Print quality is good. On this machine the 11" x 17" paper is put in a slot in the back one sheet at a time while the other printer has a tray that will allow that size paper down to letter size. Scanning is easy. I don't use the fax feature.

Average Printer Slow Data Transfer

This printer overall works well but the data transfer when you click print is slow, it takes a while to actually start printing after that it is fine speed wise. I will say though if you ever want to print an envelope find a different printer. This thing jams every time I try to print on an envelope and clearing the paper jam is a pain.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Never Again

Am currently on my third replacement of this product in a year. The current one only prints one envelope at a time - otherwise there is a jam and the only way to remove the 'jam notice' after the jam is removed is to shut it off - despite following instructions. It also smears all copies for larger than 8.5 x 10 such as legal size documents.. I spoke to help desk about this who promised to find an answer and instead got a message saying my issue was fixed - nope. Should not be sold.

For the price, this is a great printer. It prints fast and duplexes. Ink use is very good after the first set of ink. Prints fast. Not a great photo printer though, but for a printer/copier/fax/scanner it does everything else very well. Scans very good, a great fax machine, and copies fast. A great all round system, and for the price after the rebate you can't go wrong. I have it on my wireless network so any device in the house can use it, very convenient!

Disapointing

Fixing copy quality is a problem. I ran multiple cleaning cycles trying to clear up the problem, but that used up entire cartridges of ink. We just live with poor quality, now.

You replaced the unit twice (2) in one year. The last one I did not open but sold it as a factory refurbished. I hope whoever bought it has better luck with it. We have an old MFC-495cw that we have for 5+years in our camper. It freezes in the winter and keeps on printing whenever we need to print something. Ink cartriges leak but its a very dependable all in one printer. Best investment I ever made. The MFC-J4510DW is a lemon.
