Our biggest complaint is its handling of card stock paper for greeting cards. Too many re-dos.

Meets all expectations

This is my second Brother product. I bought it because of the success I had with my laser printer. The 4510 does everything well and is so convenient. I used to use separate scanners and printers to work but now I can make quick photocopies without even turning on any computers and can fax again since my new computers don't have telephone modems. It is fast, convenient and very efficient with the use if ink.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Disappointed

I purchased this printer expecting to be able to print from all my computers wirelessly without problems. I find I am not able to do that if the printer goes to sleep.
I work with it one day and the next day it is offline. I then have to go turn it off and then back on and at sometime the printing will then occur.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good QUality Machine

MFC works very well, easy to set up, connectivity is very good, understanding the touch screen is very easy. The normal quality print mode should be just a little darker.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I find the printer does not print dark enough.
Also can not believe there is not a limit on the cover when use it to scan or copy, like a arm to prevent the cover from falling all the way back

You get what you pay for...

I originally picked up a new MFC-J470DW to replace a broken MFC-J430 that died after an overdose of cheap (non-Brother) ink cartridges. It lasted 2-3 years and was a good machine. Anyways, the MFC-J470DW does not play well with others (meaning my network, I use WEP encryption). After I finally got it connected (manually) it still had a hard time connecting to the computers wirelessly. What broke the deal is I use the ADF a lot, and the MFC-J470DW acted more like a paper shredder than a scanner. I took that unit back and swapped it for a MFC-J4510DW which cost twice as much. BUT... it connected to my network on the first try (manually), and each computer (4) I installed the software on. The ADF scanner works perfectly (like it should). Printing is fast. And this is all done wirelessly. The only gripe (like the others before me) is that it sounds like it's going to blow a gasket then it prints. Buy it and you'll see what I mean. Otherwise it's great!

I am now sending back my second one of these, it always displays jammed paper error when there is no jammed paper, and print alignment is not good.

Waste of money

If it possible to hate a printer, I HATE this printer! in the 1.5 years I have had this printer, I have had more problems with it then I have with my 6 year old HP at home.
I have to uninstall and reinstall the software every few months and that takes the whole day as the software does not recognize that the UBS cable is plugged in.
The printer is extremely loud and I get complaints from co workers.
The scanner, if you scan more than 20 pages without giving it a break (turn it off, then turn it on) takes a while, which is hard when the documents are time sensitive.
The support desk is useless. I can wait 30 minutes for the chat and if I glance away for 30 seconds, my chat session is cancelled.
If I could, I would never buy a brother again. I am currently testing an Epson for my company and will recommend it with high praises. Epson workforce, good!
