Good printer

I am impressed with this printer. Prints very clear photos as well as written documents. However, the print pre-view does not always work on the printer software and I find myself having to manually to a print preview with my browser software to prevent printing of unnecessary pages.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Purchased 2 with warrenties had to return them both.
Had the tech support on thge phone for an hour and they had no options other than to read the manule with me. The problem was the "No Paper Fed #1"- It never loaded one sheet of paper no matter how hard the tech and I worked.
Worst printer ever. Brother definetly lost a coustomer with this poorly produced product. I will never buy brother again. Worst printer ever.

Worst Case of Buyers Remorse

I recently purchased the Brother MFCJ4510DW for our office printing. It was suppose to simply be set up for basic and immediate need printing that could not be outsourced. Right out of the box, the printer was a disaster. Everything that was printed via the back loading tray came out misaligned and ridiculously crooked. Our office staff wasted expensive paper and documents due to that. We each trouble-shot the printer in hopes to correct the issues but we came up empty handed.
The next issue was that the standard bottom paper tray constantly got jammed. Paper would get stuck on simply basic text documents. After a few paper jams, the support hinge actually fell off the lid mount and from there on, it would not stay and would even make it difficult to close the lid. With that issue, we could not even print because the printer wanted the lid fully closed in order to operate; that was frustrating and took a lot of time to constantly have to fix.
The last major issue was the quality of printing and color managing. We went through and changed various settings hoping to achieve an absolute color match - no matter which way we tried it, the ink would never match up. Our staff attempted this on both the printer and Adobe setting panels.
This printer was a nightmare and caused numerous problems for my staff and myself. The model it self looks great on the outside but looks can be deceiving. I'm a professional writer and graphic designer and would not recommend this series of printers for anyone attempting to print professional quality documents, photos, etc. Not only did our office lose time(Ten days) on this printer but we also lost money that could have went to a better printer. *Even though we did not purchase the printer from Brother direct, we had a very difficult time returning it from the retail store. We did not get our full money back.

Terrible Product

I hated it. It's of no good use, you have to feed it one page at a time. I would never work on a stack of papers. I would feed two or more pages in at a time. Labels were a mess. I had to print fifty labels for a project. I had to stand there and feed them one at a time.

MFC J4510DW

We purchased this printer specifically to print projects onto 11x17 paper. The 11x17 paper feed is terrible. The paper feeds and prints crooked everytime. Regardless of the type of paper, regular, brochure, photo, etc., I am very disappointed. Brother needs to improve on the feed "tray" for the larger paper.
The printer for normal everyday 8 1/2 x 11 printing is fine and the printer prints photos really nice, but so did my other brand printer.

I'm pretty happy with my new Brother. The everyday print quality is all I could hope for. The scanner works great too. I haven't set up the fax. Only problem is that envelopes tend to jam.

Not the greatest

I bought this on the recommendation of a salesperson as a replacement for a small laser printer. Bad recommendation.
1. Wireless is difficult to setup
2. there is a loud "chunk" when it starts to print
3. shakes the stand that it is sitting on
4. not as fast as "advertised"
Good:
1. print quality is acceptable. I haven't printed color or on any paper other than plan, so haven't tested it fully.

Potentially great printer for price

This printer has many pluses that they just about make up for the few but significant minuses.
In appearance, space foot print and other features this printer is far ahead of its competition at a comparable price (I use the duplex printing a lot, one of the reasons for choosing this printer over others). But in getting the price down too many compromises have been made. The noise when printing is terrrible, but after a time you might get used to it. But it is more difficult to get used to the flimsiness of the paper tray and the resulting frequent paper jams. And the output paper tray is not good for holding more than about 10 sheets, and I oftern print reports of 50 or more pages.
I also have a Brother HL 2280DW monochrome laser printier that looks very basic, just a big black box. How about applying some of the same design features (landscape paper feed, white/black case instead of all black) of the MFC J4510DW to the rest of the Brother printer range? It would really make them stand out over the competition.
... and please do something about the noise and flimsy paper feed
