Disappointing purchase

I scan a lot of sheet music. I made a mistake when I thought the 11 x 17 feature would allow me to scan and print two sheets of music. Most new sheet music is printed 9 x 12 paper. its very difficult to make an acceptable scan without loosing some of the text. My settings are 8.5 x 11.0, black and white, 300 dpi. The scans are black on snow white. However, the prints are not snow white. This is a dissapointment. Solutions are not very good.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A Brother's customer for 8 years

My newest printer is fine with two exceptions. The plastic parts are flimsy and I actually had to return this model after the first day when raising the part to raise from scanning snapped and I called for a replacement part and was told they are not stocked (made in China???). Also I have to be present for a fax as it has to stay on manual per instructions from Brothers call center. My other printer MFC 845 CW is better made probably not in China and does not have the above mentioned problems. Having the call center is quite helpful and I am a long time Brothers customer for that reason and their overall good quality generally speaking.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This machine has been reliable up to this point, I have not had it very long. It took me a while to set it up (probably due to my age, 69), but it has been very reliable since. I have not used the fax yet so I can not comment on its reliability, but for my main use for this machine (copying) it works well. Also the digital wireless printing works well (I use a larger Brother laser printer for most of my printing). I have used the scanning process only once and it worked well. All of the Brother printers that I have owned have worked great and are reliable.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I had owned a Brother all in one printer with built in phone and answering. It lasted about 6 years.
Super happy with it, a real value. Couldn't buy a similar model so ordered a MFC-J4510DW. Had it about 1/2 to one year when it failed. Under extended warranty, Best Buy replaced it at no charge. Both the first and replaced units are slow, noisy/klunky and with less photo printing quality than my phone/printer (forgot model number, would gladly exchange if you had one in stock ). Have talked to Brother service re photo quality, made suggestions and provided email solutions that I will try. Appreciate Brother service.

Nice printer...but...

This Brother printer works well. The only thing about it that I can't seem to figure out is why it goes off-line so quickly. You can't print until you turn it completely off and restart it. 5 minutes later, it's off line again. The copies are clear, colors and black ink seem a bit lighter than some printers. Support has been good, and the price was very competitive.
I would recommend this to a friend!
