Off Road Tested. Zero Failures.

I’ve been running Peak Design’s motorcycle mount system for about four years now, mostly riding off road, and I’ve never had a single issue with my phone coming loose. A lot of my riding is rough terrain, washboard roads, rocky trails, constant vibration, and it’s never failed me. That alone says a lot.
The magnetic and mechanical lock is solid. Once it’s on, it’s on. I don’t even think about it anymore, which is exactly what you want when you’re riding.
I’m especially excited about the new wireless charging mount. After years of using cables, I really think wireless is the only way to go, especially if you ride in bad weather. There’s no exposed charging port, no worrying about water getting into a cable connection, and no wires vibrating loose. It just keeps charging.
For me, this system has been one of those upgrades that quietly proves itself over time. Four years, zero failures, tons of off road miles. That’s hard to argue with.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Ok so I love the mounting system’s quick on/off feature, it’s aluminum build, and the case is thin/ flat. Now for why it’s 3 stars for me. One thing I’d like added/ built into future phone cases is a strong magnet in each corner so it can be stuck to a fridge or motorcycle tank etc. I added three to the outside my case so I know they don’t affect the phones functions ie compass, MagSafe charging, or the camera, or any other part of the phone. The magnets that already are built into the case are too weak to support the weight of the phone but that’s not their purpose so I accept that but would love to have my idea implemented in future cases. The bigger reason for my two star deduction is that after less than a weak of riding to and from work my rear camera image stabilizer is beginning to fail so basically the dampener needs to be improved upon. When I had my phone mounted with my quadlock with their dampener I had no issues with the image stabilizer failing. The only changed variable was switching over to peak design and I’ll still be using it because it’s so sleek/ functional and my image stabilizer is now already compromised. Once I get it fixed or upgrade my phone I don’t know if I’ll continue to use it though because I don’t want it to happen again especially when I know my old QL with dampener does protect the image stabilizer. If peak design ads the magnets and makes their dampener more full proof then it will be hands down the best on the market. However for me QL has them beat where it really counts for motorcycle mounts which is their dampener and it protecting the phones image stabilizer. Everything else peak design blows them and others out of the water. This has been my experience and I’ve had a lot of failed image stabilizers from using other motorcycle mounts so this isn’t a fluke or my first rodeo. I hope no one else experiences this but I did and feel I should let others know.

We are glad that were able to discuss this issue with you directly via email and get things sorted for you here. As mentioned in our exchange, we fully stand behind our vibration protection functionality and consider it to be hands-down the safest phone mounting system on the market. To-date, your failure remains one of the very few instances of this we’ve ever seen with our mounts. We’re confident that you’ll be able to ride without worry from here on out. Thanks again for your support!

I was one of the people that supported this. It’s a great piece of kit. By far the best phone mounting system. I’m at se this on my bicycle that I ride rain, hail, or shine. The only missing thing is a built in MagSafe charger. Having to plug in a device using a cable that is exposed to the weather is a terrible idea. This mount could have a waterproof magnetic charging solution, which would make a r the ultimate cycling/ motorbike mount.

Great mount; mediocre charger.

Mixed bag of a product. Build quality and mechanical design are rock solid. Retention and magnetic, self centering and locking is a great experience. Similar to Peak Design's wireless car vent charger, the charger only draws a little less than 5W, meaning your phone is probably only seeing 3W~4W after inductive charging losses. On top of that, even without a phone mounted, the charger will draw ~300mW. Caution to those who hard wire this setup to a motorcycle or e-bike as it may drain your battery.

Did Not Work For Me

I bought this MC bar mount a couple of weeks ago (May 1, 2025) and it arrived while I was away travelling so I was excited to install this on my MC when I got home. . .big disappointment. I have a Peak Design phone case for my iPhone, it is stock, no modifications, it fits nicely on the v2 bar mount, everything connects well but it will not charge my iPhone! I removed the Peak Design phone case and put my phone against the PD v2 bar mount charger and it lit up and started charging so I know the connection to the MC was good. I put the PD phone case back on and put the phone back on the MC bar mount and nothing!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hey there! Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. Looking at the photos, it appears you're using both the adhesive universal adapter and our PD Everyday Case. Sadly, doubling up these two products is likely what is causing the charging disruption. We'll reach out to you via email to gather some more information so we can further assist you!

Had it for about a month. Good mount overall but I can’t have it perfectly leveled as it’s mounted on a part of the handlebar of my bike that’s not fully horizontal…
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent Motorcycle Mount

TL;DR: I feel absolutely confident that the phone stays safe while riding and I can recommend it without hesitation.
This is by far the best and most convenient motorcycle mount I have ever used. It is unobtrusive and looks super sleek. Definitely not as bulky and awkward to use as many of the competitors. The best feature is the MagSafe mounting mechanism. Mounting the phone (horizontal or vertical - your choice, no need for adjustments of the mount) is just a click, and the phone is safely locked. The MagSafe has added security via a mechanical locking mechanism which is easy to unlock with a glove.
Some things I noticed and might be worth mentioning. The relatively soft dampening of the plate is noticeable, but this is obviously necessary to keep your camera optics unharmed. Because of this, the phone may wobble a bit when riding fast. This is only a "cosmetic" issue though (you still can easily read the display). For those accustomed to a ball for fine adjustments of the viewing angle. If you pay attention when mounting the clamp on the handlebar this is should not be an issue.
Disclaimer: I was participating in the public beta-testing of the product. My iPhone (Peak Design case) was mounted for a couple of weeks on a Modern Classic bike.
