Great design but gets way too hot while charging

Great car mount with an elegant minimalist design that everyone comes to expect from Peak Design. But with one fundamental flaw. The mount and my phone get very hot while charging. To the point where my phone literally overheats and shuts down functionality like maps navigation. I have a Pixel 4XL with the universal adapter. Maybe this combination is responsible, maybe not. So on longer drives I have to unplug the mount and plug into my phone. Which essentially makes the charging feature useless for me.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Brilliant and so unobtrusive

Got the the non powered Car Mount recently and followed the 24hr install time - PD says it needs 24hrs for the adhesive to cure so took their works for it.
Its adhesive is holding very strong on the top of the dash in my 2020 Skoda Kodiaq - even with the slight texture.
Holds my 15 Pro Max in the Everyday Case incredibly well. Love it!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Simple and secure

I have been using my car mount for over 6 months and I have no complaints with it. My phone attaches super easily to the mount and I don’t have to worry about it falling off. The adhesive that attaches the mount to the car is super strong, it holds up well even in the extreme heat. I would definitely recommend this mount.

TOTAL OVERHEATING

I have the Qi2 and it always overheats so much that the iphone stops working, the car mount burns with heat and also has no heat dissipation design so the iphone system slows down so much that it stops working temporarily until it cools down by taking it out of there, and I have done many car trips and using the GPS google maps (offline maps) and it is always the same.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not great at charging

I think this is probably an issue of sunlight on a dash and the heat generated by wireless charging but on a summer day, my phone doesn't get more than a handful of percent after sitting on this for an hour drive. I think the phone/charger limit the charging because of the heat. Super clean design, the wire clips aren't very permanent, solid.

The best Mobile phone vent magnet!

I purchased the vent mount phone charger and love it! Not a rapid charge, but keeps the phone steady and visible. Bought the non charging for my wife as her holder would let the phones drop.

Great until it gets hot

I have now owned this mount for 8 months, it was fantastic until the car was outside in temperatures over 70 degrees F. Once you hit this temp outside and let the car bake a bit the sticky part of the mount begins to degrade and then it won't hold your phone any longer.
Just be sure you are ready to invest in new 3M mounting stickers a few times a year if it gets warm in your neck of the woods.

I bought into the slimlink ecosystem looking for a good, secure mount for my bicycle. I purchased the car mount to round out the custom bundle and use in my car. The mount is solid and well made - definitely a quality product. Overall I would recommend this mount/system to others looking for a quality mount/case ecosystem. The one thing that keeps me from awarding the car mount a fifth star is the magnet, though. There are times where I don't get my phone quite lined up correctly, and the mount appears to be holding the phone, but as soon as I start driving and hit a bump, the phone drops. I also feel that in the event of an accident, the magnet wouldn't sufficiently hold and the phone would become just another flying object in the cab of the vehicle. I would love to see a car mount that utilizes the slimlink connector - for the additional security as well as the guarantee of knowing the phone is correctly aligned and attached to the mount.
I would recommend this to a friend!
