Verified Purchase:Yes
Four-star rating vs five is only because it does not have the auto-2 sided scan capability, which I knew when I purchased it. Otherwise, I would give this printer a Five-star rating. Easy to setup and thus far functions as advertised and the print quality is absolutely excellent.

Compact, High-Quality, and Versatile Photo Printer
on December 1, 2024

This is a review for the Epson Expression Photo XP-8800 Wireless Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. I’ve been using the Epson Expression Photo XP-8800 for a couple of weeks now, and I’m genuinely impressed with its performance and versatility. Setting it up was straightforward, and the wireless functionality makes it incredibly convenient to print from multiple devices around the house—whether it’s my laptop, tablet, or smartphone.
The photo printing quality stands out the most. The colors are rich, vibrant, and have a professional finish, especially when using high-quality photo paper. I tested it with a few family photos, and the results were fantastic—sharp details and true-to-life colors. The speed is also a pleasant surprise; it prints 4"x6" photos in about 10 seconds, which is perfect for quick projects.
I love the dual paper trays, which make it easy to switch between standard and photo paper without hassle. The 4.3” touchscreen is responsive and intuitive, simplifying navigation through different tasks like scanning and copying. The built-in scanner works well, capturing details accurately.
One thing to note is that the printer uses Epson-specific cartridges, so you’ll need to stick with their brand. While that might be a downside for some, the quality makes it worth it. Overall, this printer is a great fit for anyone who values excellent photo printing and reliable all-in-one functionality. Highly recommended for families and home offices alike!

Professional Photo Quality with Easy Setup

This is a review for the Epson Expression Photo XP-8800 Wireless Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.
The unboxing and setup experience of this printer truly impressed me from the start. What stood out immediately was the thoughtful packaging design - the printer came in a remarkably compact box without excessive styrofoam or unnecessary filler materials. The initial setup process was straightforward, with all protective pieces and tape being easily removable. Post-unboxing setup was seamless; I simply scanned the QR code and followed the app steps without any complications. This streamlined setup process demonstrates Epson's commitment to user-friendly design and efficient packaging.
The photo printing capabilities of this printer are exceptional, particularly when paired with Epson High Gloss photo paper. The print quality and detail surpass even my previous Epson ET-8700, producing professional-grade photos that have eliminated my need to use external photo printing services. The color accuracy and sharpness are remarkable, and the printer handles fine details with impressive precision. Having used both printers, I can confidently say the XP-8800's photo output quality is notably superior.
While my overall experience has been overwhelmingly positive, I did encounter one minor issue that's worth mentioning. When using the Epson Android app for photo printing, I discovered that if my phone screen locks during the printing process, it can cause the printer to cut off the edge of the photo. I was able to replicate this issue across multiple print attempts, suggesting it's a software-related concern rather than a hardware problem with the printer itself. This seems to be an app-specific limitation that could be addressed in future updates, but it's a relatively minor inconvenience in an otherwise excellent printing experience.

Small and Mighty

This is a review for the Epson Expression Photo XP-8800 Wireless Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. It has not affected my opinion of the printer, I have used this and giving my honest feedback about it. The printer is smaller than I expected but delivers on all it promises. This is a good feature to mention because many don't have the room for a larger all in one. Plus you don't need to compromise on the features or image quality of your printed materials. It is a all in one, so allows you to scan, copy and print different types of projects. Setup took me about 10 minutes and that includes installing the app.
Once it is ready to use, all you need to do is either use the Epson Smart Panel app or access the controls on the clear and large touch screen on the front of the printer. There are six different ink cartridges to install. It is easy to do, just lift the scanner bed up and the install on the right side. Each section is marked so you know what cartridge goes where. You do need to buy only Epson cartridges, no generics can be used. But Epson is known for the quality of their ink and if your printing photos then you want quality ink. This ensures clear, vibrant images that will last. The printer walks you through and checks to ensure they are installed correctly. Your paper , whether plain or photo, goes into the paper tray located on the bottom of the front of the printer. There is also a area on top of the printer, in the back, where you input specialty paper. There is also a CD/DVD photo tray. The printer offers a maximum print resolution of 5760 x 1440 DPI and the ISO speed is up to 9.5 ppm when printing in color, while the resolution for black printing is 720 x 720 DPI and the ISO speed is up to 9 ppm. The printer also allows for wireless printing with WiFi Direct, automatic two-sided printing, borderless printing, copying and scanning. You can print borderless photos, greeting cards, stationary and more. it also has automatic two sided printing which you dont see often on smaller all in ones.
The printer lets you print borderless photos up to 8.5″ x 11″ and 4″ x 6″ borderless photos. The quality is really amazing, just as good as what you would pay for if done elsewhere. Plus it doesn't take long, usually around 10 seconds. The scanner is easy to sue and again gives you excellent image quality and fast. The same goes for copying. The touchscreen lets you use what they call Easy Mode and allows you to customize this panel so you have quick access to what you print more often. If you are a person who cares about the quality of what you print, then you want this printer. I own and use office size all in ones and they do not give me the same quality as this one.

Finally, the photo printer I’ve been waiting for

This is a review for the Epson Expression Photo XP-8800 Wireless Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.
I’ve used various color and photo printers in the past to print photos, but none of them really did the job the way I ideally wanted them to. There was always something lacking in some way.
Finally, I have exactly what I wanted – the Samsung XP-8800. In addition to the printer’s small footprint this printer uses 6-color HD ink and the result is stunning prints, and borderless too!
The printer also has two separate paper trays – one for photo paper, the other for plain paper, as well as the option to feed specialty paper through the rear feed.
If that’s not enough I was able to print a 4” x 6” photo in around 10 seconds. There is also a feature to do double sided printing but I have not tried that as yet.
I love the touch screen. Touch screens are becoming the norm, but this one has an Easy Mode which is easier to see and easier to use. A big improvement over many other printers.
Connection is using a USB or wireless, and there is of course a memory card slot. Regarding wireless, setup was a snap – in fact the easiest setup I’ve done. Setting up wireless can be problematic, and some people do have problems setting up a wireless connection, but I believe that fewer people using this printer will have problems getting it set up than other printers and devices.
Finally, this printer has the ability to scan and copy, a bonus especially with the scanner.
For someone like me who likes to review the complete specifications like I do I have uploaded a copy so you can review them.

Great all-in-one for family needs

This is a review for the Epson Expression Photo XP-8800 Wireless Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.
While all all-in-one devices claim to the only device a home needs for their document needs, this one comes pretty close. Printing and scanning technologies have improved a lot over last few years and little DPI increases and marginal increase in printing speed are really are not that big of a difference makers for day to use, especially for home users. That is why I paid more attention to things like ease-of-use that includes apps, network interoperability, ease of maintenance and troubleshooting. I paid less attention to speed, what if the printer takes an extra second to print, really does not make a difference for home use.
This all-in-one, they did a great job of making it very easy to use. Starting with easy setup, that can be done, if necessary, without using a laptop. The printer, out of the box advertises itself for airplay (most routers default to enable this. If it does not for you, check your router). That means technically, (that is how I tested first), one can install the printer and use their iPhone to print, say a PDF attachment within minutes of opening the box. Other factors of ease of use come with their app, which lets you use all features of the printer, keeps track of supplies and most importantly lets everyone in the household has their app installed and use the shared printer from their device. As a dad that gets called upon to help print something by highschool kids, this is a life saver.
Regarding the quality of the printing, both documents and photos on matte paper (that is what I happen to have), this was second to none. Speed was comparable, if not better than our previous inkjets.

This printer is a keeper!

This is a review for the Epson Expression Photo XP-8800 Wireless Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.
I love how easy setup is for the printer! The printer was packed very well in the box and arrived in perfect condition. The setup instructions were very simple and easy to follow. The touchscreen is wonderful and very easy to use. The included ink cartridges are very easy to install. I really like that the usual ink colors are included but the added touch is light cyan and light magenta cartridges also to help photos print with more vivid colors.
Because I tend to forget my wifi password and don't want to search for it the touchscreen allows me to print using wifi direct. Printing is as easy as downloading the Epson Smart Panel app, connecting to the printer, choosing a photo, and setting paper size and paper quality. I really love that the paper output tray comes out automatically. The photos I've printed have come out beautiful. I've attached a sunset photo I took in my yard with a previous phone that didn't have a great camera and the photo still printed beautifully.

This is a review for the Epson Expression Photo XP-8800 Wireless Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.
This All-in-One Printer, and I must say, it has exceeded my expectations in multiple areas. This multifunctional device combines printing, scanning, copying, and faxing capabilities, making it a versatile addition to my home office.
The printer boasts a sleek and modern design that fits well in any workspace. Its compact size is a plus, as it doesn’t take up too much room. The build quality feels solid, with a user-friendly interface that includes a clear LCD touchscreen for easy navigation.
The printing speed is impressive, reaching up to 30 pages per minute for black and white documents. The color prints are vibrant and sharp, making it perfect for both professional presentations and personal projects. I was particularly pleased with the quality of photo prints, which came out with great detail and accurate colors.
The scanner is fast and efficient, with a flatbed design that accommodates various document sizes. The scanning resolution is excellent, allowing for clear digital copies of important documents. The copying function is equally reliable, with options for both black and white and color copies.
Setting up the printer was a breeze, and it offers multiple connectivity options, including Wi-Fi, USB, and even mobile printing through apps like Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print. This flexibility is essential for a busy home office where multiple devices are in use.
The ink cartridges are reasonably priced, and the printer has a high page yield, which means fewer replacements and lower overall printing costs.
Overall, this is an excellent investment for anyone in need of a reliable and efficient printing solution. Whether for home or small business use, it delivers on performance, quality, and functionality. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to streamline their printing and document handling needs.
