My favorite set I’ve ever built
on June 10, 2024

I’m not usually one to write reviews but after completing this set and admiring it over the past few days I felt compelled. I own a few UCS sets (my favorite before this being the Batcave) and wow, this entire experience blew me away. The level of detail and lack of repitition are my two favorite things about it and it makes for a beautiful display and you can even have fun playing with it with all the detail in the tower! Highly recommend to anyone who’s a Lord Of The Rings fan (admittedly I’ve only seen the extended cuts and not read the books) or just looking for an incredibly satisfying and cool looking set. Lego knocked it out of the park with this one!

Amazing set for lotr fans

I love lotr and this set was a must have to display. 1 star reviews are probably those upset they didn’t get the free gift with purchase.

God Tier

This was my first Lego set in a couple years and it is by far the biggest and one of the most impressive looking sets I’ve ever seen. Standing at almost 3 feet tall and being over 17 inches wide, you must see it in person to truly appreciate its massive frame. The build takes quite a long time but each level of Barad Dûr added something new to keep the build interesting. The minifigures were also great, especially the new Sauron minifigure. The price was a little much and this set is not for everyone, but for lotr fans with money to spare who are thinking about buying, I highly recommended this set. On a side note; the free fell beast set however, was not so great, and to those who didn’t get it; don’t worry, your not really missing anything good besides a free Nazgûl minifigure. Overall, I give it five stars and would love some cheaper lotr sets in the future.

Excellent addition to the lord of the rings series

The set design is amazing, particularly the use of colored bricks for highlighting, which gives the illusion of glowing light. This was an amazing idea that breaks up what would have been more black bricks. It’s a really enjoyable build and an awesome play set!

Set Of the Year, minor let down
on June 8, 2024

This will be a review for those who want the tower in itself and dont expect any GWP. The tower itself is absolutely stunning and highly detailed. The absolute center of attention with a menancing glare! Minor let down of not recieving the GWP as promised by Lego, but that will not affect my review of the tower itself. The GWP is a company issue they need to figure out or learn from. The minifigs included are few for the price but all are amazingly detailed and top of the line. Would highly recommend this set for any LOTR fan!

Do you remember the Shire, Mr. Frodo?

The Barad-dur was a challenging build, especially the third part. I consider myself as an expert builder but I had to rebuild the tower no less than 4 times. The studs to connect the outer layer are simply not strong enough to hold. There should have been more studs on the outside of the curved panels. Here are some tips. Make sure you know what color is to be used. Many colors are similar. Sorting is a must. If you don't sort double your build time. While it is possible to have a person build each section, I would recommend having the same person build the entire set, and here's why. There are so many storytelling moments that culminate until the last page. Having multiple people build short changes that experience. When it's done, it's majestic. As Gimli said, 'Certainty of sore fingers, *small* chance of success... What are we waiting for?' Well, not exactly but no truer words were spoken. Glad I'm done. 7 days 19 hours casual building.
