I love the X-Men and want more sets. I am a fan of the module system in the set and the minifigures are great. However, I was tempted to not buy this because the price is off to me. The building is not that big and does not fit to well next to the other Marvel modulars like it was intended, even though source material says its upstate New York, this set was designed with the pin connection system. I understand this is a licensed theme, but Marvel really wants their money and unfortunately Lego X-Mansion is byproduct of that.
As a big fan of Lego modular buildings and X-Men, I was extremely excited for this set when it was announced, so it was a day one purchase. Like many, I was disappointed by the size when the images were released, however I hoped the build experience would exceed those expectations.
Unfortunately the build experience on this one is dull, repetitive, and has many rather flimsy sections compared to the typical modular building experience. Lots of small pieces that feel unnecessarily added and eat up some of the already minimal (for the cost) piece count. To say the building is tiny is an understatement. It would have taken a minimal increase in piece count to increase the height or depth to something that felt like a set of this cost and piece count, and fit next to other modular sets as intended.
It is packed full of detail. That is, quite literally packed, leaving almost no room for anything else. It feels like a big shell for easter eggs, which usually come in the form of a sticker placed somewhere. The references felt more like cheap call outs than actual references.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We’re sorry to hear you’re not happy with your LEGO® set. We’re passionate about making every LEGO toy imaginative, creative and most of all, fun. Your feedback will help us make our sets even better in the future.
I loved this set from the beginning, every detail and easter eggs. I agree with some hobbyists about the size but honestly it has the most important elements that a X mansion could have and it definitely refers to the comics version of the X-Men, not the movies one but the OG.
Good build but definitely not worth the price. I feel there could have been better x-men related play features. Additionally I’m not a fan of the floating debris/damage concepts. Lastly, yet again, I found two instruction booklet mistakes (pics attached). This is a common occurrence the past few years, what in the dei is going on lol.
As many have stated before me, this is an extremely small set. My fears were initiated when I saw the three mini-base plates, and was further confirmed when I finished the first book. The exterior looks good. The Sentinel is an excellent model. The interior is horrible. It is way too small.
As usual with Lego these days, they take a 24(?) stud length base and the house uses about 1/2 of that length. The rest is the front yard and 4 studs in the back, because....why? This is a practice they have been using with the modular buildings for years now and it is frustrating in it's lack of optimizing the space.
So, while the Danger Room is two stories, the interior space is roughly 7 x 7, where with better use of the space provided could have easily expanded to 10 x 10 or larger.
The Easter eggs are neat, and there are some new building techniques that I'll use on my MOC's, but the experience of this build is generally not fun.
This set is the bees knees, I'm building it and watching all the old cartoons with my son and we are having a blast. There are a lot of little details that make it special
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good build Good amount of mini figures One down side, building has battle damage. Would have preferred it with out. I like to add that kind of thing myself
