Too expensive, even when compared with other Disney IP sets like Daily Bugle or Avengers Tower. Should have more minifigs, and the included minifigs should be better quality - the not-opaque-enough printing of faces, torsos, and legs has been going on for too long already, but is particularly offensive in these large, expensive, collector-targeted sets.
I was super excited when I saw this set get announced, and I bought it as soon as I could. I am a huge fan of X-men, having watched the movies and cartoons, even owning some of the comics. I love the amount of detail in the set, and building the set was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had building Legos. Reading some of the other reviews, I know some complained about putting the stickers on, but I think that just makes the set more enjoyable it even comes with extra stickers, which I find nice. I do really like this set, but I do wish I came with Beast rather than Iceman, as he isn't in the cartoons or movies as often.
Finished building the X-man X-Mansion. Kind of disappointed in the scale of the set, it’s smaller than expected especially for being a Mansion and the cost. Its more expensive than the Museum and has about 1000 pieces less. I have been building Lego for over 40 years and this is one of the first sets that I am really disappointed in. For a comparison, I put the X-Mansion next to the museum, Sanctum Sanctorum & in my Lego city
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I'm surprised this set isn't larger when there are others with 25% more pieces at a similar price point. If Charles Xavier can't fit into the house, that's...ironically funny but a clear problem. It feels like this set prioritizes form over function seeing that there's an expectation to position figures both inside and outside of the house—this is not unique to this set, either. Often, builders have multiple sets and can't realistically display the default "action pose" you see in the promo images. It would be nice if a combined arrangement was a minimum requirement LEGO enforced to keep all the pieces together for display.
I love how the sides connect and I love all the building techniques used in the set and I love the minifigures
I would recommend this to a friend!

My Thoughts

I believe that the X-Mansion is actually a really great set. My only problem is that a couple more minifigures could have probably been included, but besides that, it’s great.
I’m not one to write reviews but this is an exception for both good and bad reasons. Let’s start off with the good: the mansion itself is absolutely beautiful to look at. It has a lot of minute details that only fans would notice. The sentinel is also really cool. The figure selection isn’t bad either just couldn’t use a little more printing on the arms and legs for some. Now with the bad: the interior is small. It’s hard to fit characters in there much more actually try and pose them. That’s not really what I look for in these sets but I can be disappointing for those who do. Another thing is that while building one of the pieces necessary was almost snapped in half right out of the bag. This is the first time I’ve had a QC issue with Lego but it’s still disappointing. It hasn’t hindered the build process but could have if it was completely snapped. You can see the stress line on the 2x10 in the photos I uploaded. I’m willing to send to a Lego employee if they would want the proof. Other than that the process was fun and is a good display piece
