This is a great little rice cooker (I got the NHS-06). Easy to use and wash and makes great sticky rice. Lesson learned: You must wash the rice until the water is clear. It takes a few minutes, but if you don't, the water will bubble up and ooze out.

I was really excited to get a rice cooker and after doing some research, I opted for this brand and this size since I'm only one person. The rice never comes out right, it doesn't keep rice warm (there are other models that do this), and it generally doesn't cook other grains well at other (e.g. oatmeal). Rice and other grains either come out too hard or too soft and if too soft, there is a mess all over I am also disappointed that it cannot be returned.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are so sorry to hear about your experience with this rice cooker. Unfortunately, the smallest model NHS-06 does not include a keep warm feature. Since it doesn't have a sealed lid and the size is small, the rice would get dry very quickly and so the keep warm feature wasn't included with it. Now, the NHS rice cooker is designed to cook white and brown rice. It is a basic model that only heats up and once it reaches a certain temperature it will turn off. For consistent results in this model, we strongly suggest to always rinse the rice to get rid of the excess starch, measure the rice with the cup included, use the water measuring lines in the pan to measure out the right amount of water for the rice, and soak the rice before pressing the cook button. Following all these steps will ensure that the rice is cooked perfectly every time. Does the job at a great price, easy to use. If you do not need all the bells and whistles of the more complex cookers that Zojirushi makes ( we have owned two of those), then this rice cooker is a great buy. Definitely recommend.
