It seemed much easier this year to complete both Federal & State Taxes. It's so helpful to be guided through the steps and feel that every advantage is being used. My only problem is with the Massachusetts State Return. Every year there is information that either needs to have an override or isn't asked as a question earlier in the process. I have to figure out what is missing, which has been getting easier with every year. ;)

Easy to use (even for a first timer), covers all the topics which need answering. It is a very good product. I've been using it since it came out in the 1970's.

Turbotax is very accurate, but sometimes the questions asked are impenetrable. One form, an explanatory statement for form 1116 continued to reappear after I deleted it multiple times. Turbotax cannot handle fiduciary returns for South Carolina (form 1041). Addresses, bank accounts, etc. have to be reentered even though I use them on multiple returns (like on trust funds for multiple children). Several times when trying to review my return, I was sent back to the same old imput screens even when all I wanted to do was see and/or check prior entries. It is hard to run base case and excursions to better understand the implications of decisions. I am not convinced that Turbotax considers all of my options, especially when considering implications across years. It would be very helpful to have a numerical flow diagram that tracks imputs to outputs. In my tax planning for next year I am balancing income of various voluntary types (federal and muni bonds, capital gains, salary and deferred salary, benefits, and retirement distributions) against college tuition credits, Roth conversions, RMDs, foreign tax carryovers, capital gains and loss carryovers, etc.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Not At All As Polished As The Online 1040 TurboTax

The exclusion of scan or photos of your various 1099 & other banking forms which then place it automatically in the appropriate form/line of your return makes this business version not worth using again.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I used the desktop business version. My biggest complaint is that I was unable to figure out how to download the 1099 into the return so had to type everything in.
