The system is easy enough to use but it doesn't seem to pull the correct accounts. It's sometimes a pain.

TurboTax for an Estate 1041
on April 4, 2026

The desktop business package was very easy to use. Our filing was not very complicated, but had to get it done and I was able to do it fairly easily and confidently using this package. Our only problem was that we are filing a 1041 for an estate that owns a vacation rental property in a foreign country. The system did not have an option for me to identify the address of the rental property as a foreign address. This creates an error message and would not allow me to efile. I am mailing in my forms, but I hope this is something that can be fixed in future editions. Also, OH requires a state return for a 1041, but it is not available in the package.

I hoped using Turbo Tax would make filing taxes easier, however, when Turbo Tax Business does not allow me to import my 1099's into my form 1041, it only added more just frustration to the process.

Does not handle complex trust returns well. Ended up having to consult a tax professional.

Turbo Tax Business falls short again

It's the usual complaints since it doesn't seem you improve much year to year. Downloads of broker info didn't work well this year. I had to do it twice with both brokers I use. Additionally, the reporting of income on our trust pushed me to strangely allocate the capital G/L and Divs/Int when it should have kept all G/L in the trust. I had to figure that out and then override it a single cell on a W/S. It just seemed to me that TT made assumptions for me and then I had to dig and unnecessarily unravel TT decisions.

Generally worked well for the trust return, but should it no have automatically generated a 1099-NEC for the trustee fee payment that I reported?
