This product takes a lot of the guesswork out of filing business taxes, for someone who runs a business as a side occupation.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

OK, But The Software Needs Work
on February 15, 2025

I am a tax attorney working for a big 5 accounting firm, and this software really needs a lot of work. It needed work last year and needs more work this year. I am filing a trust as an estate under Sec. 645 and it is prompting me to make estimated tax payments to the Commonwealth of Virginia. It still doesn't prompt for a 645 election. One really has to know what he or she is doing to use this software

Turbotax and quickbooks teams should talk
on February 15, 2025

TurboTax support did know why my information from Quickbooks was not uploading to TurboTax. As a matter of fact they told me that they tried everything they could and said sorry we can't help you and that there was nobody else that could and just hung up the phone. I got lucky when I noticed a setting in quickbooks that was obviously put there by TurboTax so it could access the company file. TurboTax support should have known and I shouldn't have had to waste 2 days and numerous hours on the phone with support that could not help me.

This is too confusing and frustrating to use. It is not very organized and it does not have any advice to help me figure out where the errors are on my forms.

Business Version Can't Import from a Brokerage
on February 15, 2025
Posted by: glenncar
The TT Business program is required for Trusts, but it can't import investment transactions from a national brokerage even though that is a function that has been in TT Premier for many years. I would guess that every Trust in the United States has a brokerage account; so why not copy that function into the Business version. The Business version costs much more than the Premier version but does not provide nearly the overall function of the Premier version.

Would like to see more populated answers.

For the most part, this tax software for Business is easily prepared. However, although it told me a state return was not needed, when ready to file, it checked the state box to efile as with federal. Additionally, when asking questions, I would like to see the program take the previous year answers and populate it so less questioning for a lay person is necessary. Without this, I have to look up answers from previous year and re-key.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
