Federal return ok; but still STUPID input of income and balance sheet STATE RETURN SUCKS: missing state code ID from prior year, failure to i/p Allocation factor; failure to separate MUNI income (in-state vs out-of-state - maybe do this as FED I/P adjustment) why FED balance sheet <> State B/S ???? INCOMPRENSIVE ERROR MESSAGES - had to rei/p state info to find error !!!

As always makes it easy, it sure would be nice if they added State for Delaware for S-Corp

Thank Goodness for Claude and OpenClaw, otherwise I would have never gotten through this. Better stop milking this cash cow and get on the AI bandwagon.

Ease of Use

Turbo Tax Business can be a challenge to use. If something isn't working right, computer has to be rebooted in order for it to work but nowhere in download instructions is that mentioned. Spent quite a bit of time trying to get CA state business taxes to work but nothing happened nor was there any message saying what the problem was (come to find out, the state itself had not released the forms yet but that was not mentioned in the program). Also don't like to have to sign in to Turbo Tax to get the program to work.

Might be good if I'm not arrested this year

This is the first year that a 1041 filing with Turbotax made some sense. That said, I have multiple years of IRS rejections of the filings mostly because the software has created errors and has been totally obtuse. In the end if I was fined for some error, the fines were cheaper than the cost of having a CPA do the work. This 1041 is related to a subtrust for my granddaughter, one of three, that contains $50,000 for each and generates maybe a couple thousand dollars that I distribute to each to keep the trust at $50,000 so that we avoid federal trust taxes and drive the proceeds to their education fund. A CPA wants thousands of dollars to complete the filing and the fines are minimal, so I struggled through the years of this software and saved money versus a professional filing. This year's software, for the first time, demanded very little of my time compared to past year's struggles.BUT we shall see if the product fails to pass muster and the black helicopters show up at my door.

Issues with State of CT tax processing
on February 27, 2026

I had issues with my CT state tax processing for AlphaPrep that is designated a pass thru entity. I need to go directly to the state of CT to correctly calculate the allocation and PE tax credit. You software incorrectly stated that my payments to the state should be refunded
