30 Years and Counting – My Reliable Choice for Bus

I’ve been using TurboTax Business every year since 1996 for my two small businesses, and I still trust it completely. After our very first year, we hired a CPA to do our taxes. He was nice and really tried to save us money, but he kept putting things in gray areas, shifting contributions into categories that didn’t quite feel right to us. We weren’t comfortable with it, so we made an appointment at the local IRS office, went over everything with them, and fixed the returns ourselves that year. Ever since then, I’ve done both businesses’ taxes on my own with TurboTax Business. I like that it asks clear questions step by step, fills out all the right forms, and stays on the safe side of the rules. It gives me peace of mind knowing we’re reporting everything correctly and not taking chances. The program handles everything my companies need: different business types, the usual deductions, industry-specific tips, and even audit help if I ever need it. Most important, I know it follows the IRS guidelines properly. I’ve recommended TurboTax Business to other small business owners who just want to get their taxes done right without worrying. After almost 30 years, it’s still the tool I count on every tax season.

State Trust Filings with Turbotax Needs Improvemen

I am trustee for my brother's trust. He lives in Illinois and I recently moved to Tennessee. Bacuase I am in Tennessee, the program defaults to Tennessee filings. Because my brother lives in Illinois, that state requires a trust tax return since he receives income while living in that state. To get the Illinois return option, I have to 'trick. turbotax by changing my state to Illinois. When the Illinois return is done, I then have to go back to the beginning and change my state mailing address to Tennessee. I then have to go through all forms to make sure mu state mailing address is correct. The program also erroneously calculated tax due on a income pass through. I had to delete the electronic file a few times and start over until the program calculated correctly.

turbotax 1041

Desktop for Business Could be Better

The Business desktop version of Turbo Tax is somewhat cumbersome and can be confusing. I would much rather have an online version to use similiar to what is available for individual filers.

Disappointing

You have not fixed North Carolina Information Worksheet Part II - Multi-State Information. Form does not work if you select No to multi-state. Then when I try to print NC return since you can't e-file, it advises me that their are errors. Then the software would only print the NC return but not the Federal return that is supposed to be sent with it.
