I've been using TurboTax for 21 years. While it keeps asking too many questions on the actual forms in little windows, I find it the best system on the market.

Disappointed!

I own two small business and five rental properties that are in LLC's. The five efiled return limitation seems a bit ludicris and appears like a way for Intuit to make more money. I could understand if I were doing business taxes for other persons, but for myseIf?. I was forced to pruchase an additional copy TurboTax for Business and use a different computer. This is the third year in a row that I had to do this. Here is the other problem. In the Turbotax help, it states you can mail your return. My state requires that return must be efiled. When I select efile state (Turbotax allows this) and mail federal, TurboTax has error that federal and state must be efiled together. So, although TurboTax states you can mail the federal and efile the required state, it does not let you. A bit missleading, but boils down to me having to purchase another version anyway. The other issue I had was that when I puchased the second copy of TurboTax Bisiness and selected TurboTax advantage (higher cost), I was supposed to get a free Audit Defense. This did not happen and I had to pay. Now I need to spend time trying to get a refund for something that was supposed to be an Advantage... The other day, I spent a couple couple of hours on the phone trying to resolve an issue with downloading and installing the newly forced purchase of TurboTax Business. Now, I have to spend, more than likely, an equal amount of time getting refunded what was supposed to be included. Overall, frustrated!

Not Intuitive
on September 15, 2025

Perhaps it is a bug or perhaps the UI is just not intuitive enough to figure out how to correct the "calculation" TurboTax performed for a 2 member LLC where one member has an 80% interest and the other the remaining 20%. TT correctly calculated 80% of liabilities on the federal K-1's but did not on the State (CA) K-1's ...for no apparent reason and with seemingly no way to correct the incorrectly calculated numbers. Wasted hours trying to figure out how to correct the error and finally gave up and submitted anyway. Will see if CA flags it or not :-/

Overall good, but....

App works pretty well. Sometimes areas it would be nice to do better, and you can see reviews for it are good but not stellar, and cost is a little crazy. This app is required for a basic S-corp (LLC), yet the cost is so high, and doing a state return is $55 + $25 to transmit. Last I knew, the competition has a similar business app combined w/the personal, but here I'd have to buy a personal app, too, for doing my 1040. And, to talk to an accountant I need to pay $60.
