Disappointed

I thought this tax return program was not very helpful. Years ago it seemed like it really took you through every step and helped explain what to do. I got caught up in a few areas not understanding what was happening. For example the special depreciation allowance. I ended up changing it to Zero because I couldn't figure out how to calculate the number.

IRS letter for failure to file S-Corp return

Experience was good. However, I received a letter from IRS on 4/28 with a penalty of $245 for failure to file my S-corporation return on time. I immediately trying to reach out to Turbo Tax via Live Chat and emails; however, the Live Chat was closed, and I could not find any useful emails to ask for assistant.

Sooo Many Complaints for DIY Software

* Misleading with products and services. Even when you know what product you want to use, it is difficult to find, difficult to purchase, difficult to download because the information is hidden behind pages and pages of near criminal up-selling.
* There is a total lack of transparency in pricing.. Your product is $100, but you are charged $110 for absolutely no apparent reason. Upon calling? The extra $10 is for "taxes". Conveniently always $10 extra regardless of the actual sales tax rate in effect. Also, the main page for product choice, small business and home business for me, tries to charge over $500-700 without giving customers the option to just purchase the basic diy software for the $100-200 it really costs. There are no links, no options, no transparency. It literally requires a google search to find a turbotax page that provides the DIY software info.. THEN.. even when you try to buy it.. the page to download it is obscured behind additional sign-ins and up-selling of un-needed and un-wanted crap.
* Subscriptions are a joke. You're subscribed.. until you expect the next years product to be easy to find or download. Except its nowhere to be found, again. Even in your account, looking at your subscriptions, it is impossible to tell if you have a subscription, what it is exactly for, and even more importantly, where to go to download or access it. Simple would be a simple email sent out to subscribers around tax time that contains a summary of the year's subscription charge, the software you are subscribed to, and convenient links on where to download it. Why, geezus, WHY does it have to be SOOOO difficult?!
* "Help" only brings you through constant circles of signing in over and over and routing you through ways to buy more products you don't need when you just want to find your product information. The only real help, is to scan google or use chat gpt to find the actual webpages that are helpful.
The purchasing and download process (for home business and small business without all their stupid add on packages) is so convoluted that I DREAD using the software. I HATE it. That said, after wasting 3-5 hours trying to get account and software information found, purchased, and downloaded, the software runs smoothly. I just wish they would clean up their website, address the perpetual need for CONSTANT sign-in verifications with every click to a new page, stop jamming products and services I don't need down my throat, and be transparent with pricing, product download information, and subscription details.. You know.. just like ethically-minded, customer-oriented, responsible corporations do.

Not Happy Business Owner

i used my Quickbooks to access Turbo Tax. I had live assist. The information I needed for this years Tax showed up on the form that I filed (online only). When it generated the form and sent it to the IRS, none of my rental information was on the form. Why would it generate the information from Quickbooks and not keep that information when transmitted. Very confusing and definitely not worth $500. I will not use Turbo Tax again for any of my Tax needs.
