Turbotax does not advertise desktop version
on April 14, 2025

This is an alternative to the online version. There is basically no difference and this option is hundreds less. Why? This is frustrating and I hope to find an alternative to your services moving forward. You get three stars for offering a business tax solution that isn't $650. But I have 2 business and unfortunately, I only found out about the desktop version until after the first business tax return was completed.
Further, once of the forms I was supposed to provide an electronic/handwritten signature on did not take my signature. I have no idea why it didn't take a new uploaded document, but now I am worried that my tax return could be rejected. This is really frustrating.

Workable and cost-effective on US return

It's workable, and sure beats the cost of having an accountant prepare the returns. Note that there is an extra charge for the State return, and documentation on it is VERY thin. For example, there is a question about whether you need to file any other forms, but no hints about what those forms might be. I had to rely on my last year's professionally prepared return to identify needed forms. Also, I repeatedly had to google terms because there was no in-context help in the State return.
Pros: My employment status changed this year

C-Corp tax prep should be online like everything else, it's been YEARS, time to modernize.

Not really worth the money IMO

Product is OK, very user data driven instead of being able to import info. I use it for trusts and for what it costs, you would think it would import consolidated statements for investments. I think I'll just go back to using a CPA.
Pros: My employment status changed this year, I moved, I bought or sold investments

Great product with one caveat!

I love Turbo Tax and have been using it for years. My main difficulty is when it shows an error message and takes me to the form, it is not apparent what is wrong. I go round and round in circles.

Basically had to read form 1041 myself and correct

No box asking for 1099-R forms for a deceased retired person made the whole process really irritating. I use Turbotax for my personal taxes and you have the programming capability to step through all kinds of 1099 forms. Plug this into estate 1041 software. No step asking for sale of collectables or motor vehicle. Beneficiary is wrong saying has been paid whereas form says Schedule B line 9 "Income required to be distributed". This is giant error by Intuit because estate would have owed $35,000 if filled out as paid in 2024 rather than required to be distributed. No notation of generation skipping in K1 letters or forms.
