2024 California Form 541 Line 11 has a glitch
on March 30, 2025
Posted by: LynneF 2
I am overall pleased with the Federal software. However, there seems to be a bug this year in the California software relating to Line 11 of Form 541, where the data was not pulled over from the 1041 and could not be entered manually. This was identified by people in the TT Community Users Group in early February, but was still a problem at the end of March.

Missing exemption on federal return.

You need to include the Qualified Disability Trust exemption on the federal return. This year it was $5,000.00.

Ridiculous not to include NYC in NYS download
on March 30, 2025

Turbo tax has always been a very good product, however it is ridiculous to pay for a NYC filing (4 forms which I found out I could easily downloaded from NYC tax site and hand filled) without even an ability to e-file in addition to paying for NYS filing. NYC is a part of NY State and should be included in NY State package. Please review and reply.

An effective application overall. Minor difficulty downloading MI fiduciary tax form (had to close and reopen TurboTax to make form appear on the State step-by-step page).

Not impressed

Pain in the neck ...this seems to be much worse than the "standard" TTax SW. No real-time view of Federal and State taxes. I had multiple issues when I could not update patches. My federal fiduciary was "manually" updated because I could not pay for it die to some SW glitch...

It is a hassle to not just be able to pop a disc into my computer. Product went downhill this year.

TurboTax Suggestions
on March 31, 2025

To complete a trust return using this version is not as easy as using the home & business for individuals. This trusts holds property and investments. There should be an easier way to enter and classify things like a required minimum distribution from an IRA or state tax refund. On 1099-B entries there is not a good way to enter accrued market discounts on a sale. The foreign tax credit input process is also challenging to maneuver. Just a number of things that are more difficult to complete compared to using the individual versions when preparing a trust return.

So-so.

Did my taxes, but I had some significant complaints. First, it won't e-file business tax extensions (and mailing them seems risky). Second, the question flow ignores some options that you are expected to just *know* will be issues (like whether a Member is an entity or whether the corporation is subject to PHC tax).
