This is a bad year for TT Business Form 1065

I used TT Business to file a 1065 Partnership return. There were a lot of issues with properly addressing contributed properties that had been depreciating for some time and of course need to be accurately reflected that the partnership is continuing the depreciation and amortization of partners rather than starting in year one again. That was the first issue of many. There were several default assumptions that were bad and was never asked for or about. If this was a "new to filing taxes and bookkeeping" person... your small business owners, your single member S-Corporations just trying to avoid the insane filing fees charged from professionals, they would have a hard time and most likely not be able to finish. You need to be comfortable jumping around in the forms section directly and know where to go - or willing to learn!
The import over into the State was also not great. There was pretty much no assistance in filling out the State return; it merely transferred numbers and information. The rest you have to figure out yourself. Thankfully, States typically have an instruction manual on their websites for download.

TurboTax and Quickbooks online, NOT easy

I am not happy that I cannot import from Quickbooks online basic.
I was required to enter all items manually.
Also, Quickbooks online does not permit review of tax line assignment.
Don't like that Turbotax is trying to force use of live tax experts or pay for much more expensive Quickbooks version

Not expensive and functional

Turbo tax Desktop was simple and not expensive like the online version. So I do appreciate it when I am on a budget. The agent that helped me, was able to get me all completed in a timely manner.
