TurboTax is essential

Essential tax software for any S Corp owner. However, TurboTax not importing data from 2017 Quickbooks is a drag. I am not buying new software Intuit! Not for that.

Turbo Tax is mixed

The business federal return is decent. It was used for a simple LLC. Although under the "tips" section at the end, it said I may have overstated my basis and to go back to the partners info section. This was completely worthless. It just had me go through the same info as before, and I could not see anywhere that I had done what it said I did. As for the state addition, I can only comment on Oregon (an additional $50), and it is awful. We are a small 5 member LLC and not all of us live in Oregon. Because of this, the state requires we file a form OR-OC and OR-OC-1. Turbo Tax does not include these forms. They don't even let the user know that they will be needed. If I hadn't read the instructions for the main form, I would never have known this. Fortunately for us, the forms are easy to fill out on the state website. So 4 stars for federal and 2 stars for state of Oregon.

Buggy. Sometimes it actually gets the math wrong!

I used mine to file a return for an S-Corp. Spent about 6 hours troubleshooting problems where I felt I had entered every number from my balance sheet, but Turbotax was coming up with different totals.
Turns out, it can't add. A couple of cells that I entered data into simply weren't being added into the total, and one cell continued to add in a number that I had deleted: it wasn't even there anymore! It is helpful when it can add, but if you run into a similar problem, check the math with Excel immediately.

It was easy to use and followed a logical progression. Some clarification is needed as the medical insurance premiums are added to officer salaries, but entry is on a separate line.

THE REP THAT WE HAD WAS YOUR EMPLOYEE, DEEP. HE WAS EXCELLENT. NONETHELESS, YOUR SYSTEM IS NOT INTUITIVE AT ALL. IT TAKES A LOT OF EFFORT TO UNDERSTAND IF WE ARE GOING ABOUT THE FILING IN THE APPROPRIATE MANNER.
