I used the H&R Block Premium and Business Software for my personal tax filing and found it to be easy to use. I did get Business part which I did not need and I did not use. The price was great anyway so I bought the combo.
The personal is well done and easy to use, but the Business is extremely hard to navigate. The links between the fields don't work, very few help screens and the take you too does not take you too what the problem is.
I've been using this tax software for years and have noticed that it seems every year something else is taken away. 2019 year that was the worst as seems there is practically no tax help unless I navigate to the internet.
Ohio and federal were great but KY was worthless to me. I paid for it and now have to file it by paper form because the current information was not in the program.
The software is easy to use, very accurate, reasonable in price and I have been using this software for many years. I would highly recommend this software to all users who have some form of entity business - it covers most any type of business operation.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
Good software and easy to use. Was a little confusing at times, not as easy as the online editions in the walk-through as still had to research a few of the questions, but is still good purchase for small businesses. And much cheaper than the TurboTax equivalent. Will likely be using again next year, and definitely recommend for other small businesses!
The federal filing interview makes it easy to file your personal federal taxes even if you do not know all of the tax laws. The Michigan State filing was not so straight forward. The tax software acknowledges that out of state residents are not eligible for a $40,000 retirement benefits deduction but then takes it anyway. You cannot override this deduction. I had to add a negative $40,000 on line 27 to offset this error. The tax was then calculated correctly. I filed on paper and crossed out the two $40,000 entries and replaced them with zeroes. This issue was also present last year. The business federal filing was a little more difficult since there was no interiew to walk you through the filing. I did not encounter any issues with the business filing.
