Needed 2 things to improve

1)Form 8938 should have option to have more continuation pages, not only one, mainly to file electronically, I had 5 accounts to report.
2)Should have also option to file form 5471

A little less clear this year

We've been using H&R Block software for our taxes for about 20 years now. Even through tricky tax matters like buying and selling a house, moving to a new state, starting our business, the program has guided us through our taxes faithfully. I've especially liked the ability to go back and not claim certain things to see how that affects our refund/tax owed. It has saved us additional money many years and allowed us to see when we are at the perfect point for our maximum refund. This year, however, a couple spots in the state interview for Indiana left us scratching our heads and searching for form instructions online to get to the bottom of things. I think the county tax section could have been more clear about where to find the numbers (buried in the state forms earlier, so I felt the program should have just carried the numbers over for me, or told me which line to go find them on) it was asking for. Certainly not enough to make me switch to another tax software provider, but a place to improve for next year. Also, please clear up where the email address can be adjusted. I filed my daughter's taxes before ours (since hers are much simpler, she was expecting a refund, and ours take weeks to complete because of the complexity and my lack of time) and it was pre-filling my email address for her notification, but didn't allow me to change it on that screen. I stumbled across where to change it at another point in the interview, but not until I'd wasted time trying to figure it out. Again, not a deal breaker for me, but something to improve.

Real problems

The current version of the premium software has an issue between data you enter in the Rents and Royalties section and the IRS Schedule E, rents royalties and 1099-misc
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Using HR Block for years. Generally ok although at times not user friendly.

The fact that H&R Block uploads the previous year's info you don't have to worry about writer's block when you sit down to start.
