The software is OK; not much better than it was in the past. My pet peeve is that I can't copy an screen text. So when my efile notice came thru with a 20-digit Submission ID number, I couldn't copy it. So primative.
Pros: Easy to import documents
I would recommend this to a friend!

Worst software ever

Bought the business edition in january for my S corp; it was completely unusable. There were forms missing, the program interviews didn't work, forcing you to manually enter data into the forms... until you couldn't anymore - some forms required data entry through the interview process which didn't exist. I have used Taxact in the past, had to go and buy Taxact again to complete my taxes.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The personal return was difficult to follow. too many hidden places to check for errors. Took me way to long to finish.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!

MAJOR problem with K-1
on July 27, 2019

For Box 20 on a partnership K-1, entering a LOSS with the Z code results in an INCREASE in taxes. An accountant told me that this was a problem with the software’s interpretation of the new law’s sec 199A re qualified business income. This particular K-1 was delayed, so I had gotten a filing extension and knew what my tax liability should be. If I had had the K-1 earlier and entered its info before the final calculation I would never have known that the software error could cost me several thousand dollars! Also, using the business program on a trust return is awkward because, unlike the regular program, it does not allow you to summarize stock sales; you have to enter them one by one.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

limitiation for non-passive rental gain and rent
on October 15, 2019

Been using since 1995. This year was the worst experience yet. All other years have been perfect. The software has limitations on interpreting QBI and NIT in relation to rent and rental property sales gain for both qualified real estate professionals and safe harbor real estate professionals. The IRS instructions allow non-passive gains and rents to be omitted from form 8960 but the software does not do that even though it asked for professional status on the rental income and the rental disposition interview. This can affect the return by several thousand dollars. please spend more time on this subject. not recommending for this year.
Other than the price.. it was great! I bought the premium version and had no problems... My only real critque of this version is that I do wish the customer would get FREE STATE filing as well as FREE FEDERAL filing as you are paying more for a premium version..
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
