Smooth Sailing

This is year three with H&R. Easy to follow, very good continuity from the previous years. A very quick turn around for the acceptance from the IRS.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast

Effective, simple to use and very few drawbacks

I have been using H&R Block tax software for about 12 years now. It's pretty straightforward and easy to use. If you make mistakes or have to add additional figures in to make corrections, you can go right to the section you need with a couple clicks. Every couple years or so, for some reason, it will refuse to load last year's data from the disk and you have to do everything again from scratch. It's annoying, but not impossible, however, we pay for it to work. When it doesn't, it's like being shortchanged. I will not be buying Business and Premium again because it promises to give you separate sections to itemize deductions for employee expenses, but it's really two separate programs. Business and the regular Premium. The only complaint I have about the Premium is it doesn't know how to separate calculations based on running 3 different schedule C's when comparing things like separate mileage on the same car, real estate taxes for the same home office, etc. I'll still be using it, because I'm used to it and don't want to switch to the "Other Guys". Guess I'll just have to live it the quirks since it does the rest very well.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
Cons: Hard to import documents

I have used this program for the last five years for my business and personal taxes.. great product and will use again for taxes as long as I keep my business going

Great Program, One Unexplainable Omission

Program is intuitive and easy to use. One major omission is to capping of the mortgage interest deduction for mortgages over $1M/$750K (depending on the origination year). Thought this would have been fixed this year with all the focus on tax law changes, but it was not! Like in previous years, had to go back and compute the correct deduction amount by hand (simple computations explained in the 1040 instruction book) and correct the electronic entries. There are ripple effects that should and could easily be accounted for in the program as well (i.e., adjustments for states that don't follow this mortgage interest limitation). For such a otherwise comprehensive program, this omission is mind-boggling!
