Buggy software. Huge issue for Software Architect.

I really had a difficult time with H&R Block Tax Cut software this year. I originally started using Tax Cut decades ago because of a serious bug in TurboTax. I vowed never to use them again and have suffered through with your software. However, this year enough issues happened importing a consolidated 1099 that I filed not one, but two bug reports. The bug reporting process was also problematic that I had to get help just to do that. Then I had an issue as I was trying to upload my taxes to the state. I should file a bug report on that one too (the tax ID for the state on a 1099-R was interpreted wrong in the software and it was NOT identified until UPLOAD!). Normally, I would just get angry, cuss a lot and just silently move on to another program next year. But, I have a career in software development, engineering, and architecture. The problems I experienced with your software were identical to the problems I solved and fought to get solved for the past 30 years.
At this point, I would love to give you a detailed design document and walk through the changes that are needed in the software. You should hire me to fix this stuff for you. Seriously.

This boomer has been using HRB Premium/Business since the 1990s. The personal software has always been very good - stable, intuitive, and comprehensive in forms, which I have a ton of. Import from previous years is flawless and it's well tuned for non-financial taxpayers in flow and assistance. 5 stars.
The Business program is a great value for my LLC, S Corp, and C Corp Fed and state returns. However, it's never been great to use. It was very buggy in the early years and navigation was awful. It's improved a good bit since then and covers every form out there. My state return (NC) remains a manual form fill, although there's good linkage on calculated fields, and much of the work for my state is prefilled from federal. Because of its comprehensive business type coverage and recent improvements at a reasonable price (and because it's not an obnoxious, pricey competitor), I give it 4 stars.
