I have been using H&R Block online software for many years. I like that you can import the data from a previous year. I also like that the software points out possible places in the return that need to be fixed.

limited functionality for farms with rental land

Doesn't work well for farms who rent out part of the land and the owner lives on the farm and does not participate. Should not use schedule f but record everything on schedule e. There is no place to enter a 1099 PATR for schedule f
Pros: Fast
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

I have used this software for many many years. I don't remember how many. It has been great. My only problem is that in the last few years I have had to create a few 1099_NEC's and the business software makes it super hard. You can't just fill it out and print. It's just weird. I need a button that says, "Create a 1099-NEC" and then you fill it out and print. Because I am not using that software for an entire return.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming
I would recommend this to a friend!

I’ve used HR Block personal tax software for many, many years (even when it was called Taxcut) and generally have been very pleased and satisfied with it. Unfortunately I’ve been less pleased with the business program which I’ve been using since 2021 or 2022. It is difficult to navigate, especially since the “take me to” function still causes the program to crash. It is very hard to find where some entries which are found to be in error actually come from. Seems to always take a lot longer than it should to complete a fairly simple rental property partnership (LLC) return. Most of the interview doesn’t apply due to it being a single rental property income/loss.

great software, need to work on e-filing for states. This year I had to file an ammenment and it worked great for the federal return. But e filing was not available for the Oregon return. This created a burden, printing stack of paper and mailing...
